Unbelievable!! Thanks for sharing. Amazing to think how incredibly talented he was at that age, and that he ended up at GU! As far as I know, we weren't even trying to recruit him when all the big guys were prior to the bowling alley incident. We have lots of ways to evaluate "best ever Hoyas", but IMHO if we pose it as "who were the two most talented basketball players ever to don a GU jersey", the top two would be Patrick and Allen. Don't you just LOVE being a HOYA fan?!?!

Over/under on whether the SID intervenes to enforce the prohibition on KL video.

This is either the first or the second of the three games he played in the KL that summer. Probably the first because he scored the most points in that game. Of course I recognize JYD and maybe Boubacar too in these highlights.

But it was a long time ago, so I could easily be wrong. The third game was amazing, not so much because if AI's performance (I think even he was just a little out of gas by that point), but because by then of course the secret was definitely out and I don't remember EVER seeing that many people crammed into McDonough. Anyway, thanks alleninxis for sharing the vid. That was awesome.

Great stuff. If only Chuck's shooting percentage was anywhere near what that vid made it look like. And, for the record, in terms of just talent, AI has Ewing beat by a long shot. Ewing gets a HUGE edge on physical gifts coupled with his talent. Both really, really rare. But imagine if AI had been 6'5" or even 6'3"? Holy crap.....

I love Allen, but NOBODY is going to come here and talk about someone being a more "talented" guy then Ewing. Ewing had a better jumpshot and was 7'0 feet tall and had same heart/toughness that AI had--only Ewing also gets credit for taking Georgetown, the Big East, CBB, and coverage of CBB to the next level. It wasn't just because he was tall and played with a scowl--the guy was a tremendous talent and some of you guys talk of him like the mid to late 30's guy you saw with Knicks--Ewing was every bit as talented as Iverson. You don't dominate college basketball as he did and not have rare talent.

You can put me down for saying Bubba had more talent than Ewing. I remember Bubba scoring 100 in the Pro-Am League(Norfolk, VA)

AI was a more spectacular talent, but PE was the stud of studs. As said before, PE put GU and the BE on the map.
As far as summer league entertainment goes, nobody beats AI, the kid was sensational and that was after not playing his senior year of high school. That footage was awesome.

Ewing was by far the most talented guy ever to play for the Hoyas.
He dwarfs AI, and not just physically.
I come from the AI era of Georgetown basketball.
the Ewing era was before my time.
I'm most familiar with Ewing during his NBA career. And as great as Ewing was during the NBA, all-star appearences, etc.....his knees were shot by then.
But after seeing highlights and old games of Ewing in college, what he did in college and the way he played in college was completely amazing. He was a freak of nature. He was 7'0 tall but ran the floor as fast and as nimble as a 6'4 wing player. He was a great defender. And he had moves that he didn't display until the pros because JT2 liked his centers in the paint and in the paint only.
that isn't to discredit AI. He is a close second. But again, Ewing was a difference maker that AI was not. Were we more competitive when AI came to G-town? no doubt.
And you can't say AI didn't have talent around him. Jahidi White, Don Reid, Othella, and Jerome were all NBA players. And don't forget he had Victor Page as a backcourt mate his sophomore year and George Butler in the early part of his freshman year (remember the Memphis game where Butler took over and AI had fouled out?)
Ewing was just on another level.

Having seen both in person, it's Ewing by a long shot. Don't get me wrong, I've never seen a college guard as quick as Iverson, but no player impacted the college game like Ewing. The team results bear his value out: three final games and one title simply dwarfs anything Iverson did in a Hoya uniform.
