I agree SF, esp. with losing Vaughn and Hendawg being a bust (to this point atleast), but he can't be counted on. Recruit over him! I think 4 ships for this class- 2 bigs, SF, SG/SF. In todays recruiting you have to prepare as if you're best kids will leave every year: 2 bigs in 2011, 2 bigs in 2012. Surround them with guys who can get them the ball; point forwards Slo Mo and Iverson. Flank them with shooters/penetrators/finishers at the rim. Its simple really...lol

Not dumb. 2012 SF Kyle Anderson. Slo Mo is his nickname cause he's not the fleetest of foot, but still gets things done. From what I hear, he'd be perfect for the GU offense and likes the Hoyas alot.

Another Cox pickup. Not too worried about this one though. I think Seagears will be a career backup to Myles Mack who Rutgers landed about a month ago and who I think will be a really good college player.

Cox's impact on Rutgers' recruiting was immediate and significant. I'm impressed.

It happened when Fred Hill came in too -- they got a McD AA if anyone remembers. But you have to win to keep it going.
Plus, if Cox does well, he'll jump at the first opportunity.

Have to wonder why it seems that Cox is having more immediate success at Rutgers then he did when coming to Georgetown. Is our system really that hard a sell?

the only player he's landed that we had substantial interest in was Goodman.
had he stayed, he could have helped with Rakeem and Tyrone, though.

The only people he's really been instrumental in bringing in have been the 2 DC Assault kids, because that's his connection. One he couldn't exploit at Georgetown. And even then he's not pulling in the quinn cook's from Assault he's pulling in the next level guys like kone and seagears.

Have to wonder why it seems that Cox is having more immediate success at Rutgers then he did when coming to Georgetown. Is our system really that hard a sell? Pops/Curtis beef and the DCA pipeline. All there is to it, really. I think losing him hurt not because we wanted the guys he got, but because we wanted the guys we missed, and had a better shot with Cox. Plus him not being on our team, I think it's possible that he hurt us with negative recruiting. Unconfirmed. FWIW I do think Rutgers is definitely on the rise though, and everybody who will brush them off because "they're Rutgers" will see in the end. They're about to put up a class that's easily top 15, possibly top 10. That's pretty damn impressive considering how bad they've been, and not something you see everyday. Granted the next part is actually winning games and that's maybe even tougher than the recruiting, but that was Rice's strength coming in, his teams play hard for him. I think he is going to be a success. They still won't be good next year, but I think their future is extremely bright.

Losing Cox killed our recruiting this year, period. Anyone who cannot admit that is just lying to themselves. Hopefully, this will be just a one year effect and Cox will not be jerk and use negative recruiting on us in the future, not that it does not happen at every other BE team.
Also, let's be happy we are not SHU, SJU or even Nova because if Rice shows any progress at RU this season, the masterplan to renovate the RAC will be put in motion and recruiting NJ/NYC will get a heck of a lot harder for other programs. I agree with you RB, and not just because we are both Jersey boys either. RU will be a force in about 3 seasons. Rice is actually known as a good game coach and all the doubts were on his recruiting ability. Cox has given him a huge jumpstart combined with all the PT he can offer. They have 5 verbals, already a Top 15 class and he said he has 2 more schollies to go.
I actually look forward to meaningful games in the RAC for The Hoyas, it will be exciting for the NJ fanbase.

As a Jersey Boy myself , I agree .. It's kinda cool that we have The Hall and RU back to back in NJ. I'll be at both games wearing my G'Town Jersey with Pride at the RAC and in Newark - like always.

It wasn't that long ago that no team looked forward to a trip to the RAC. I don't see anything wrong with those days returning - provided we're up to the task. ;D
