My favorite Skinner moment? BC losing in the first round of the BET right after they announced their desire to jump ship and all the fans in the Garden serenading them at the end with "Na na na / Na na na na / Hey hey hey / Goodbye!". Syracuse fans, UConn fans, Hoya fans, St. John's fans, Pitt fans, all speaking with a collective voice.
It was beyond glorious.

According to sources at BC, Skinner and his agent Dennis Coleman met with Boston College athletic director Gene DeFilippo and BC Vice President of Human Resources Leo Sullivan last Wednesday and were informed that Skinner would not be retained.
Skinner and Coleman then asked if BC could keep that information quiet to allow Skinner to find another job. BC agreed, and Skinner went to New York to interview for the opening at St. John's which developed when Norm Roberts was fired.
That comment has a slightly different tone from the one that I have heard. For what it's worth, our local sportstalk host said that Skinner asked for permission to talk to St. Johns. He was told yes, but that he wouldn't be retained if so. That's slightly different from the tone of that that article siad. That comment

Sure makes sense that a Florida radio sports talk show host would have the inside scoop on something that happened in Boston.

I didn't "correct" the article, just pointing out that there might be a bit more to it. Like I said, I don't know.

I move that BC's name be changed to Delusional College. There's not much difference between BC and DC.
I think this is a shame. Skinner did a really good job there.

I think my favorite Skinner moment was the following year, when BC was playing in the ACC tournament for the first time. Some ACC reporter, probably from a NC paper, asked him what it was like to be playing in such a tough tournament for the first time. Skinner said something along the lines of "The Big East Tournament, in New York, was pretty tough" in a tone that suggested, to me, that he thought it was absurd that anyone could suggest the ACC tournament was tougher than the BET.

Oooh, I forgot about watching that game. The best part of watching a winning team in the NCAA tournament is when CBS cuts away with a few minutes left - you know the game's over. Glad everybody got the right footwear.

Forget paying a big-time coach, Creepy Crean would do that stuff for free.

Katz obviously thinks this was a hatchet job. THanks for posting Dan. Maybe we should talk to LIC, see if he can redirect that meteor headed for BC so it will just take out the AD's office
