I think the excitement in Verizon was due to the following:

- Fans wanted to help the team redeem itself after that poor showing at 'Cuse
- We ALL wanted payback for last year's Durham Disaster and Phantom Technical Foul.
- The game was the CBS National Game
- It was SNOWING outside! And COLD! Snow always makes everything more exciting!
- When i arrived at VC at 10:30 AM for a 1:00 game, there was already a HUGE, around the block line of people waiting to get in! Turned out it was GU Students waiting for the Student Seating section!
- The President was going to be at the game
- Heightened Security fears led everyone to get to AND into the arena early -- where the anticipation was rapidly building as we all waited together!
- The "Sea of Gray" was instantly visible as every single seat had a Great T-Shirt on the back, or the fan in that seat was already wearing it! Verizon looked AWESOME! Like a TRUE HOME COURT!

So many people having so much motivation AND getting there early and waiting together for the game to start? It just accelerated the excitement and energy level! AND -- they were VERY FEW DUKE FANS INSIDE! It was like a REAL home court advantage!

And -- it was GREAT fun to hang out before and after the game at Clyde's with great Hoya fans like DTrain, GPHoya (and Mrs. GPHoya), Jack, VegasRain, GoldHoya, RedheadedHoya, JohnnyJones, and, of course, HoyaInSpirit -- as well as many other fans who are not (yet) board members! (or maybe I just don't know their screen names!)

Sorry I missed AvantGardeHoya, DanMcQ and others who may have been there.

FANTASTIC win for the Hoyas. Beating national program DUKE so thoroughly, and in the Nation's Capitol with the President and VP in attendance! That HAS to help recruiting.

Yep, 2006, because of the element of surprise. Resurrection in 2006 vs. validation in 2010 is a very good way of putting it. Also, the 2006 win was special also because of what we did afterwards... Sweet 16 in '06 an Final Four in '07. What we do the rest of the year (and how well Duke does) will determine how important this victory really was.

As HSB pointed out for him, I'm also a little biased towards 2006 beause I was a student then, and was one of the first ones at center court once the clock ran out. ;D

That said, what we got this weekend was exactly what we needed after the embarassing blowout loss at Syracuse. I think this team has some great basketball ahead of it. Could not be more excited for February and March.

Finally, I'm sure this has been covered already, but I thought the gray out went very well. It was not perfect, as there were some small splotches of non-gray in the 100 level, but overall it looked very good. I hope we can designate one home game as a "Gray Out" game every year, and I think it can only get better from here. Also, the shirts they gave out were pretty sweet, and very much in keeping with the "We Are Georgetown" shirt style.

Great game, but now we're moving on... and as lichoya says, it's February. Go Hoyas. Beat USF.

I was at 2006, so I'm biased, but 2006 without question. This time, it wasn't unexpected. In 2006, there was a sense that there was...something new happening. This win was just a step in the road that we've been on sincethat 2006 game.
