The other board (HoyaReport) is suggesting tonight (1/7) that Nikita is transferring to Wake Forest.

Hmm, strange. You'd think Wake could pull in a high school wing/SF recruit rather than accept a transfer who proved he can't play major D1 ball.

I hope whatever material the Wake bench is made out of is more comfy than ours. Good luck Nikita!

Just keep hatin' guys, mature and classy. Nikita gave full effort, even if results were often lacking, and he was an important cog in a win over Syracuse, which ought to get at least a little love - but of course it sounds better to take cheap shots at a kid, maybe you guys are just ticked off that he didn't stick around for 1 1/2 more years to be insulted and ridiculed. I am pretty sure Coach played him because he had some confidence in him, not because the BeloRussian mafia forced him to.

Wake fans aren't exactly thrilled with this one. We've always needed shooters, but I don't see how this guy fits the bill. We were going to bring in a Norwegian this past fall, but that never worked out. Maybe he will be our token foreigner? We could have used his shooting this year (if he could prove to be a reliable 3pt threat), but not as much next year - we're bringing in a legit shooter from NC. Color me surprised.

Good luck to Nikita. Sorry it didn't work out on the Hilltop and that he finds whatever it is he's looking for (to paraphrase the song).
Moving on ...

Since I presume that this means you are also owning the immaturity and the lack of class. your admission is accepted.

He's a kid with ability and I feel still could've contributed to this team. Best of Luck to Nikita!

There is a reason no other other major schools recruited this kid. He filled a hole for us and that's it.

You're right - he tried to fill a hole for us, it didn't work out, so he went somewhere he hopes to be able to contribute. No need to ridicule the kid - especially by a bunch of clods who could undoubtedly be spotted 20 in a game to 21 against Nikita and still lose. Hope he fits in at Wake.

I guess I'm just not understanding the transfer if it is, in fact, Wake. His odds of getting more playing time can't be appreciably better there. I hope I'm wrong for his sake because, as someone stated above, Nikita was never lacking in his effort.

I can say for a fact that we are indeed ticked off that he didn't stick around for 1 1/2 more years to be insulted and ridiculed. No need to insult former players. There were a half dozen other scholarship players over the last 10-12 years with less on-court performance than Nikita Mescheriakov that weren't treated as you suggest.
