And the fact that he didn't knock anyone up, pay for them to have an abortion (unless I'm missing some details), and he's the star of a late night talk show - not the Head Coach of a basketball team and ostensibly someone who is supposed to guide young lives.
I'm not excusing his behavior, but I don't think this is the same as the Pitino situation.

He probably won't get the Pitino treatment for the reasons that TC listed above. Also, he didn't compare his blackmail ordeal to 9/11, so he has that going for him.

OMG he had consensual sex with women in his workplace. Whatever. I love Dave. Actually, almost any supervisor-supervisee relationship that gets revealed gets the supervisor fired. It's very difficult for the supervisee to end the relationship and have everything go back to normal. In these cases, the recommendation is usually for the person breaking it off to get a new job (though I'm guessing that Letterman was probably a great job). Nothing's going to happen because he's famous. Not to say that something shouldn't.

I love Dave too, but aren't you in the least bit troubled by behavior (e.g., sexual harrassment of employees, be it 'consensual' or not) that would get any supervisor in America fired? Agree with TC about some of the other differences with the Pitino situation.

So wait.....does this situation even involve marital infidelity? I was kind of just assuming it did, and I guess there's other women so it is still possible that it might, but if there's no cheating go on here AND it falls under the Tom Brady rules of sexual harrassment (be handsome, be attractive, don't be unattractive) what's the scandal here?

" Relationships with someone who "worked on the show" is a supervisor/supervisee relationship. In almost any company in America, it gets you fired. BIG scandal.

While i believe Dave is an Exec Producer on the show, another Exec Producer would not be under him. We dont know the extent of the relationship and who it is with. Those people may not be on the show any more and it may have nothing to do with the relationship. i know that the standard procedure in any work place is the the supervisor would be dismissed. But it seems to me that there is more to the story.

Relationships with someone who "worked on the show" is a supervisor/supervisee relationship. In almost any company in America, it gets you fired. BIG scandal. Unless you're in upper management, in which case everyone looks the other way. Again, I don't think this is really news - he's always been rumored to be a crummy boss and he married one of his subordinates. No one cared then. Unless there's infidelity, this kinda rates as a "meh" on the scandal scale.

I still think CBS needs to do something to ensure Letterman doesn't get off scot-free. Four hours of sexual harassment training ought to be sufficient punishment.

Yeah, everyone's missing the real scandal here. If his employees were hired for their writing skills rather than their sexual availability, his show might suck less.
