The jackbooted thugs in the black house (not racist, there are just black people in it - it's a bad joke) have completely mortgaged our future by capitulating to the terrorists that want to destroy our precious white (not racist) hetero christian way of life. How can you cut the missile defense shield? That was the only thing keeping us safe from North Korean thugs and dictators.

There are lots of Eastern Europeans who are now very mad at the US and who think that we sold them out to the Russians. Obama is doing this to get Russian help on Iran. He really better have got something big. |

That was my thought as well. If Russia agrees not to veto sanctions on Iran then it is a good deal. If not then I personally cycle back to the Russians rolled our young Pres.
edit - It was kind of stupid though to announce this on the 70th anniversary of the Russian invasion of Poland to start WWII

One macro point to consider is that sometimes foreign policy is a matter of choosing among dung heaps. This may not be any different.
If the status quo were acceptable, it would not be an issue in the first place. Our policy on the matter had been reasonably consistent at least as long as the W. years and, maybe, longer. In the meanwhile, the Iran threat grew all the same. Nonetheless, the argument seems to be that this policy change, absent other considerations, stinks on its face, as if the other policy would achieve the goal of neutralizing Iran, keeping the Russians at bay, and the like.
I would expect that there isn't pride on the right when it comes to the past 8 years in these regards.

It kept failing, so they designed a test it could pass (no countermeasures, one missile, etc.). Even if you grant that this test was legit (which I don't), you'd still need much more testing in realistic simulations before this system should be deployable. You're as well off relying on duck and cover as you are relying on missile defense (as it stands now) to ward off a nuclear attack. |
