BTW, Wegman's VP Joe Lang says that getting fresh fruits and vegetables every day is an unrealistic expectation. For this reason, there was considerable controversy when VP Lang was named to the Wegman's Hall of Fame this past March.

When Esherick does the double fist over his head, the cashiers at Registers 1-4 all have to close their registers, run to customer service, and let cashier 5 try to take on all the customers.

Wegman's doesn't want him, but Esherick maintains he would make a damn good shift supervisor at Safeway.

Drew Hall also thought he got mono from some tainted spinach. Turns out he just got it from Tony Bethel.

The new Wegman's manager never would have had such huge success if it weren't for the ultra-talented deli manager and the seven foot tall cart-boy that Esherick brought in.

The ultra-talented deli manager would not have been a success were it not for the new sandwich meat slicing system that his supervisor implemented. Wegman's being a family business, I often wonder whether the current manager should put his father in charge of customer service. Online FAQ's would certainly be reformed: Q: I am dissatisfied with the sandwich meat slicing system. It often pauses and does not produce results. Can Wegman's find a new system? A (Wegman's Representative): &^A you.

Hoyatalk Circa 2003 : Without huge capital upgrades in the strip mall it is housed in, Wegmans will never sell another box of cereal.

BTW, Wegman's VP Joe Lang says that getting fresh fruits and vegetables every day is an unrealistic expectation. That is a complete mischaracterization of what Wegman's VP Joe Lang said. Lang's comments were perfectly reasonable given the Wegman's board of directors' poor attitude and lack of initiative WRT long-term purchase agreements to provide Wegman's with fresh, daily fruits and vegetables.

After some backlash, VP Lang decided to show initiative and grow some onions as a start. So robust were these onions after just a few days that Mr. Lang hand-picked journalists from industry publications for a follow-up interview. Convinced it would be a scathing sit-down, Mr. Lang solicited advice from the Information Department. Mr. Lang was described as emotional during the interview. Onions, after all, can make you cry. Mr. Lang retired quietly shortly after the onion harvest.

I guess I'd be quicker about pulling the plug on this, but here along I-35 we've never heard of Wegman's. It sounds like an H-E-B store. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H-E-B

Last year Jessie Sapp and Chris Wright got into an argument because they both couldn't work full time in the deli section. DaJuan Summers said it didn't happen, but he was the most disappointing employee there and totally didn't deserve his promotion.
Latavious Williams filled out an application to work at Wegmans once - everyone was really excited.
Also, has anyone been to Wegman's lately? The check out system was really good a couple of years ago, but now they can't get good people to run the registers.

It's my understanding that a major part of the problem is that Wegman's has a seriously flawed hiring process which has been exacerbated by the departure of certain talented assistant managers. Apparently the store's also still smarting from its decision not bring on board uber-talented staffers like one Mr. McClain, who, though he was snapped up by Shoppers Food Warehouse, has only managed to carve out a very part-time role with the store.

Wegman's doesn't let the fact that they don't get a lot of recognition in the pre-season supermarket ratings -- or that employment gurus consistently rank the new hires of Pggly Wiggly higher than theirs -- bother them. They let their ranking at the END of the year do the talking for them.

I was at Wegman's today and saw a group of Swing Dancers dancing to The Devil Goes Down to Georgia on Aisle 5 next to the kitchenwares. WTF!

Harvey Thomas's uncle's brother's cousin told me that Derrick Rose passed out in the ice cream section of Wegman's while studying for the SAT's, but that Coach Cal bought him some Smartfood popcorn and everything turned out okay.
