Nosotros es Uno tried to give the game away late but it was little to worry about as they won by five. To be gramatically correct, it would be "Nosotros Somos Uno." "Nosotros es Uno" would be "We is one," but maybe that's what you were going for. Yes i was thinking the same thing. But should it be somos or estamos? Is being "one" a temporary condition or a permanent one? I was never very good at Spanish so i have no idea, but i would think being one would only be temporary

Based on one set of Kenner League games (a very significant statistical sampling, I'm sure), I'd say you're starting 5 looks like this: Wright Clark Freeman Thompson Monroe with Vee, Vaughn, Nikita, and Simms coming off the bench in that order. I really think it needs to be Sims or Vaughn instead of Clark or Freeman even. Thompson wouldn't be able to guard 4's.

More like C hris Austin Hollis Julian Greg
with Jason and Vee off the bench as guards and Henry as the big and Nikita, as the zone breaker
Ride Julian to Indy

I was never very good at Spanish so i have no idea, but i would think being one would only be temporary Nah, it's somos. I think I've seen "Nosostros Somos Uno" in print for a soccer team slogan or something. Or maybe it was a political rally. Spanish grammar aside, I think that the starting 5 will be: Chris, Austin, Hollis, Greg, and Julian and Henry fighting it out for the 4 spot. I'm not going to write off Henry based on one KL game and getting shoved around by 'Zo, but it sounds like he does need to toughen up. Clark would be a solid 6th man off the bench. But who knows, if Julian and Henry don't develop enough, maybe we run a three-guard offense with Clark. Either way, Julian and/or Henry need to step up big-time this season. Both will be getting at least as many minutes as last season, and we need more rebounding, defense, and scoring from the 4 position (in that order), as well as someone to spell Greg. It would be great if they could both elevate their games, but at least one needs to be a 6 ppg, 5 rpg type of guy. I see this as possibly the most important key to next season. Finally, nothing against the guy, but I really hope Nikita does not start or get extended minutes. 10-15 minutes per game max. For supposedly such a good shooter, he needs to work on his stroke.

A three guard offense would not be a problem. In fact I'm pretty sure we'll see some three guard out there, when Hollis or likely Chris are out of the game.
But Hollis at PF...ugh. I was not as upset with DaJuan being out of position as most, because he was 240 lbs and legitimately 6'8" or so. And he actually rebounded at PF the year before.
That didn't work out well, and Hollis or Nikita at PF don't even have the capability to work out well like DaJuan did. They are both spotting at least 20 lbs to DaJuan, let alone other BE PFs.
Not based on Kenner at all, I'd like see a four man rotation at G (CW, JC, VS, AF); two men at SF (AF, HT) and three big men (GM, JV, HS) with Nikita helping out at the 3/4 and Jerelle down low if he's ready to contribute. That's 9-10 deep and we usually don't do that, so I suspect Jerelle gets Amadou minutes and someone gets their minutes a bit squeezed.

Yeah there is no way HT gets run at the 4. He has never played down low in his life and has always been at the 2/3. We are not that desperate. I like him at the 2/3 in our system too. Henry will be ok. And if not, I wouldnt mind seeing JV play the 5 and allow GM to play the 4, which will be his position at the next level anyway.

concur, Greg should get minutes at his natural position of the four. I would like to see JV play with Greg, but Henry had some good minutes last year playing with Greg too. HT appeared to stay away from the paint last night, so I guess hw might be a better 2/3.

Hollis can't play the PF.....not going to happen...not big enough/strong enough we are in trouble if he has to match up that way....Sims will be fine let's see how the rest of Kenner plays out before making any starting 5 predictions

see i disagree i think HT guarded Kevin Thompson pretty well inside last night, and competed on the boards. I think he can play some "4" in a line-up. I wouldnt say start that way but we can play that way for extended stretches. i mean look at the 4's in the BE. they aren't huge post monsters. you saying Hollis cant guard, the "Devin ebanks, gavin edwards, antiono pena, or dante taylors of the world?? i think he can inside for a bit, i mean guys like Rick jackson and terrence jennings... it isnt smart but i wouldnt say no to that either. if we are using our skill advantage on the other end. I still think the starting line-up we talked about is still the best line-up right now. Henry didnt play terrible, just didnt cmpete enough for me. tonight should be intersting since he is playing his former hs teammate Dino Gregory of maryland.

Oh yeah I dont agree with the notion we have to scrap the lineup JT3 mentioned to Katz. Im just saying that giving GM some run at the 4 while JV is at the 5 could be good for him long term. He is not a 5. And if HS aint ready, but I DO HOPE HE IS, then starting JV at the 5 and GM at 4 and HT at 3 would be a very very LONG lineup that should be able to dominate inside!!

Can someone compare a taller iteration of Ashanti Cook with Vee Sanford? Just trying to get a feel for his game. Nah wouldnt compare those too. I think finiding a G'town comparsion to Vee will be hard......if you pressed me into someone he gets in the lane like Charles Smith did, just plays at a pace and then jets by people, and knows how to finish against stronger and bigger guys. edit:think of a Tony parker type game.....not comparing to Tony just saying that kind of ability to get into crevices and finish plays.

Austin nearly jumped out of the bleachers when Hollis threw that early dunk down. Nice to see everyone get excited for that.
And it was a really weird night for Henry. They doubled him every time he touched the ball so that kept his numbers down (and he could have gotten more if he was one on one with that big dude, the guy's knees were probably so bad that he didn't even contest the tip off) but on defense it looked like Dejuan Blair versus me.

Hollis would great destroyed on the boards by Rick Jackson or Terrence Jennings. I can see the one on one defense not being that big of a deal because half of the Big East has no post moves. But its the rebounding -- which really hurt us last year -- which I am really worried about. Much of our defensive slippage could be attributed to poor rebounding and the rest probably due to Roy not standing in the middle -- Hollis replays having a non-shotblocker, non-rebounder at the four. I'm sure he could be somewhat passable like Summers, but his potential isn't as high as a defensive four.

I'm not saying he wouldnt be destroyed on the boards by a Jennings or Rick Jackson on a individual basis, but if we use our advatange on the offense end it might be a good thing to do. I think its something to look at not a long term strategy, thats all i was saying. WE can take such a huge advantadge pressing and running with that line-up that the size becomes a non-factor. That is all i was saying. Obviously he is not a "4". But I think people get too trapped up in is he a 3 or a 4 at times. Players do too. Villanova didnt get killed on the boards playing Ray at the 3 and Foye at the 4. That is the objective look at it I was trying to provide the person I was responding too.

Despite whether Vaughn or Sims are really ready to step up into a consitently good PF, I think we have to start one of them at that spot. Its for the good of the rest of the lineup. Yea you might lose a little not having your best 5 players on the floor, but how much of an improvement would Hollis be at the 4 in favor of Sims? Enough to make up for Freeman playing out of position at the 3 and a possible downgrade from Hollis at the three? Or makeup for having a possible downgrade of Clark at the 2 instead of Freeman? Does it make up for the extra pressure that will be put on Monroe when that lineups in there because atleast Henry as some skills downlow to get a bit of the focus off of him? IMO the answer to all these questions is no. I would rather lose something at one position and have the other 4 as strong as possible then weaken 3 other positions for one to be slightly stronger(which it probably wouldn't be with Hollis as PF instead of Henry or Vaughn)

Was weird watching the tombs game Austins family was sitting directly behind me so when Austin did something well. I made sure i said it so his mom felt the love,lol....

I don't think we're going to be pressing and running enough to offset that kind of disadvantage. That's a wholesale change that I don't see happening.
That said, I agree there are times that Hollis is the effective four out there. I hope it isn't too much time -- but Sims or Vaughn need to be good enough to make that true.
