HT's mom was there, and she seemed very excited to see him play in the Fall, and proud of his success, academic and athletic, thus far. I think he is going to be a huge surprise in the Big East this year, as every other team seems to have forgotten about him. I really, really liked what I saw of his game.

Tonight:* 7:15 The Clydes( henry, jason) vs. We are one( hollis, ryan) 8:25 The tombs( austin, vee, jerrelle, stephen) vs. Beyond belief( ?) 9:35 Premier athletics vs. Bearcats it's been said chris and greg are not playing till saturday which means they're probably on DCX the only team that doesn't play till saturday. * Times, teams, and rosters subject t change.

Great recaps everyone, special thx to dense and lic for the detailed analysis. Nice to hear that everyone is impressed with Vee. Henry sounds like he hasn't progressed a whole ton...but its smart to reserve judgment. Hollis has to be the best news of the night. If he only plays two years, then we have an absolute stud on our hands. That said, I am hoping he is a 3 or 4 year kid. He's not really 6'9" though..is he? I thought he was closer to 6'6". Glad to hear Austin looks aggressive. I think its too early to anoint him first team BE. If you last year's Jenner analysis of him and placed it on this this thread...no one would ever know.....ie, looks trim, going to the rim hard, is aggressive, etc, etc.. Hopefully this is a break out year for him.

I only caught the last game, and would echo those who are impressed w/ JClark. His handle has definitely tightened up (seems to have a slightly lower dribble than the one that we cringed at last season), and he was hitting from everywhere.
Henry looked a bit ragged, slow to get up and down the court, and totally outmatched by Calvin Brown, a bruiser who outweighed him by what looked to be about 70 pounds. I'll want a few more looks at Henry before making a judgment, but it appears that Kenner should be a good time for him to assess where he is, competition-wise, and what adjustments he still has to make.

I'd like more out of Sims, but it sounds like he was matched up against Badsen (a Conf-USA POY and spent time in the NBA) and Calvin Brown who, if he's the Calvin Brown from Norfolk State, is a 25-year-old, 255 pound big man who's played professionally overseas. You gotta have some context.

I'm not sure who Calvin Brown is but he was a solid player with a fairly big weight advantage on Henry. He did a great job of getting Sims to bite on his pump fakes.

that is the same calvin brown that played at Norfolk state....and the man's put on some more weight than the 255 he was listed at in school...much closer to 300 now for sure. Henry needs to show a little more but it was one kenner league game withhold judgment till we see more...kenner is very guard oriented so hard for the big guys to get involved and showcase, but def need a bit more from the big fella
Lets not go overboard on hollis...the kid's 6'6ish 6'7 tops....and 2 and done is a bit premature...if he progresses and does then that's great...for him and us. He needs to get stronger though. The kid is smoooooothe....great handle and good athleticism..cant wait to see him during the season
everything other people have said are pretty much spot on. good first night of kenner!

hence why i said snap judgements.....he showed alot the 1st night for being a team that didnt pass him the ball at all. Coach rodney was telling thm to run the pic and pop with Hollis only problem was after the pick they always drove into traffic and lost it or threw up some terrible shot. #3 on his team had him wide open for a 3 late in the 2nd half didnt pass it to him, then tried to go by the guy guarding him couldnt and jacked up a fall away 24 fter. Summers didnt wow me like that his 1st game, neither did Jeff for that matter, not saying he is better tahn both just saying the kid has skills a scout would drool over. shooting touch, ridic hops, and handle the ball like a point guard, and he looks like he would run if he knew he might see the ball.
he is the same height kevin thompson is so whatever height that is is how tall he is slighty shorter than dino gregory and i think he is listed at 6'9 hence why i said that.
edit gregory is listed at 6'7 so maybe 6'6 is right, though im 6'5 almost and hollis seemed more than 1 inch taller than me

thanks a lot dense
maybe "seem" is the key word - some guys just play tall. generally speaking it is good to have guys like that on your team.
either way, he has been off recruiting people's radar (he committed in 07!), sat last season and was considered top WC 09 talent. if he plays big off what we thought we had, well that is always nice.
JC plays D

agreed dense I'm drooling over his skills too....Bowie really ignored hollis most of the game....I'm reallllly excited to have this kid on our squad...I'm not trying to put down the kid (I think he's fantastic) I just wanted to temper any expectations....we all know how over the top this board can get (positive or negative) ;D

Calvin Brown is someone who outplayed Roy when he had his breakout KL in 2004. Some on the Internet even put him on the KL First Team over Roy. He does not have much game outside of 10 feet, but he is fairly automatic when he has position inside of 5.
The problem with Henry is not so much that he isn't strong. It is that he is a tweener. He shot up as a junior or senior but his game did not expand inside.

Thanks for all the good updates... It seems like the scheduling is a mess, as everyone says it always is. Is there a revised schedule floating around somewhere? I was hoping to catch a few games this weekend. Thanks

Can someone please post the revised schedule for the weekend? This will be my only chance to catch some Kenner action this year and I'd like to see how the guys are shaping up. Thanks
