Actually Moses would only be a sophomore. Moses is 2010, Jordan is 2011.
From my perspective I think the staff has done the right thing with all of the "true bigs" in 2011. They have laid the groundwork with several including but not limited to Jordan, John Manning, Deng Leek, Matt Gorski and others, and if any of these guys has a big summer, we should have as good a shot as anybody to bring them in. That said, since none of these guys are anything close to a sure thing, no real reason to offer yet, especially considering that 2010 is still very much up in the air. At this stage of the game, even though 'ships are plentiful, no reason to offer a 2011 guy unless you are really sure about him, IMO.
I think once 2010 recruiting finishes up (over the next month or so) and we have a good idea of what we're working with, you'll start to see us figure out the 2011 stuff, and maybe see some more 2011 guys visiting in spring. If we only take 1 more in 2010 then we're looking at 5 available scholarships for 2011, which probably increases the odds of us rolling the dice on "a project". If we get 2 more, we may be a little more judicious.

MCI, I defer to you on timing. I just remember that in his senior year (and later) people were still saying he sucked, and he was dropping 20 and 10, crushing Peter Prowitt (who was higher ranked) and was a pretty darn good player. It was like because he was only putting up 10 and 5 (or whatever) as a 14 year old, he was destined to suck forever. I hear ya but to be honest people were still saying he sucked after his senior year in which he carried that Gtown Prep team. Just think of the lack of respect. That Gtown Prep dominated the IAC, Hibbert lead Prep in every major category and the team only lost one regular season game against a DC area team (including WCAC squads) which happened when Hibbert couldn't play because of the flu. And yet some guard named Manny from St. Albans (of the IAC) was picked First Team All Met by the WPost and Hibbert, as a senior, had to settle for Second Team. Not to mention the visitors on Maryland high school basketbal sites were still dissing Roy as they claimed he wasn't going to be any good in the Big East. Heck, III still likes to go around telling nonsense about how Roy was only the third or fourth best player on his high school squad which is total nonsense (by his junior year he was clearly the best player on the team). So the disrespect was always there even when Roy was a senior. As for his junior season after the first couple of weeks in which he struggled Roy became the most consistent force for GTown Prep. As a junior he averaged around 17 to 18 points and roughly ten rebounds. I think those numbers led the team. As a junior he also led Prep to an upset win over a team from North Carolina with senior Chris Paul in the lineup. He was pretty effective by his junior season despite his flaws.

As someone who has seen Jordan O play.... He isn't there yet and probably wont be until mabe Soph or Jr. yr of College but its hard to tell with big guys....He has pretty good touch for such a massive kid....He doesnt have verticla explosiveness....but he can run and isnt soft in terms of going for the ball....going up for his shot....or physical contact...I've been a huge proponent of brgining him in....the problem is he fits into the offense, thats why i think it would take him a while, cause he isnt a ballhandler, isnt a passer, but he has decent hands for a guy who hasnt played basketball for that long. Also he is really personable and coachable from what I've heard and seen. I definitely want to take a cahnce on him.

My guess is the only 2011 kid we would offer today is Rakeem, and we know he won't be committing for awhile.

Scout's comment on Lucas from this weekend:
"Landen Lucas, 6-7 C Portland (Ore.) Sunset. One of the better post prospects in the Pacific Northwest for 2012, Lucas has solid skills and a good feel for the game. A true post that understands he’s a post, Lucas is comfortable playing with his back to the basket. He’s not an especially explosive athlete, though, and will need to rely on his skill level and getting stronger at the next level. He’s a potential high major prospect."

Kid out of NYC .. from NBE.com/via Rob Mernagh: Kid has potential
Omar Calhoun, a 6-foot-4 guard in the class of 2012 has been an elite-level prospect for quite a while now but he’s morphed into new territory as of late.
Calhoun’s father Omar says that his son has offers from West Virginia, Pittsburgh, Villanova and Louisville while interest is gaining from the likes of Georgetown, Connecticut, Kentucky, UNC and Virginia Tech.

Andre Drummond. Good lord.
Very happy we are in the mix - I don't care if people say he is a UConn lock. No 2012 recruit can be a UConn lock in 2012 given Calhoun's health if he is getting good advice.

Nice handle for a big kid. Loved the shot where he took the rock end to end.

ONE TO KEEP AN EYE ON..
Daniel Ochefu .. 6'9 220 lb C Westtown H.S Pa. .... should be hearing more about him soon. From what I gathered he has the whole package: Blocks shots .. runs the floor .. finishes down low .. rebounds and passes well ..
here's a tidbit from FoxSports - Jim O'Brien(Hometown Hoops Classic in Phil):
In Game 1, new-kid-on-the-block Westtown, a private coed school near West Chester, showcased the improving skills of 6-10, 225-pound sophomore forward Daniel Ochefu against Satellite Academy. Big East and Atlantic Coast Conference programs are showing heavy interest in the 16-year-old.
In ESPNU's Terrific 25 for the Class of 2012, Ochefu, who lived for four years in Nigeria, was ranked No. 12. In Westtown's 48-40 win over Satellite, of the Bronx, N.Y., he notched 12 points and five rejections.
"He's an incredibly intelligent player," said Seth Berger, Westtown's third-year coach. "His basketball IQ is off the charts. On the court, there's really nothing he can't do." Ochefu averages about 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks. It's easy to see why so many schools are interested in his services. James Madison has already made a scholarship offer. "He's a tremendous player," Satellite coach Darryl Jones said.
"Exposure events like this give us a chance to play against well-coached teams in a nonleague environment," Berger said. "It's great thing."
Ochefu says he dreams, like other players in the tournament, of "being the next Kobe or LeBron."

There is a forward at Episcopal from Africa that looks really good. Apparently he is already a "star" in the league after this season. Not saying much for the IAC, so I'm not sure if he will stay there or not. Not sure what his name is but I have heard quite a bit from him.

Darrick Wood is another name to keep a close eye on. 6'3 guard out of ... Progressive Christian. Runs with Team Takeover 16's.

Landen Lucas report from this weekend, courtesy of Rivals:
"Landen Lucas, Northwest Panthers: The 2012 center from Portland (Ore.) Sunset was dominant in the paint and displayed various post moves and a strong base so he couldn't be moved off the block. He was also a headache on defense blocking shots, altering many others and aggressively going after rebounds.
Arizona, Oregon, Oregon State, Southern Cal, Washington, Georgetown and many others are already after Lucas and it's easy to see why: He has an excellent body, runs the floor well for a big man and will undoubtedly be one of the top players on the West Coast next recruiting cycle."

Madison Jones ’12, Ravenscroft School (NC), CP3 All-Stars 16s: Wake Forest, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Old Dominion, Richmond, and Elon “are the main ones” Offers: None Favorites: “Probably Wake Forest, Georgetown, and Tennessee. Georgetown is number 1 for right now.” "Madison Jones is not one of the most highly regarded players on his squad, but the 6'2 point guard can really play, despite his slim stature at 160-pounds. Jones gets the hoop quite well, has a solid handle, and is also a good distributor. He looked to be a player deserving of mid-major looks at the least."
