Good news....imagine if we got Omegbehim and Leek. Lookout below, just throw the ball off the backboard and let one of them grab it and lay it in.

good to see that the Hoyas are getting in early with some talented bigs. Seems like the main focus is without a doubt to get an elite big in that '11 class. Thankfully there seems to be a bunch to choose from too

I'll say that its a little odd that this kid has spent only 2 years in high school and is already on his third one.

Aaaaah - that is definitely something that's good to know. How on earth did Riek end up at Cincinnati?

With a last name like "Leek," you can just imagine the wondrous signs that the undergrads will be able to come up with.

Glad he thinks of Gtown as "big man" U. His upside must be huge since he has a soccer background....that should translate well with his footwork for sure....I just hope he doesnt end up with syracuse.

7 feet tall with 2 years left.......I can't believe Lic isn't all over THAT!! Lic is gonna lose it when Dan puts up that 2011 prospects thread because there are severeal 7 footers on the radar, and in many cases, the growth plates may still be open.

I like that he realizes that he needs to go to college and REALLY develop, and is not trying to the make the mistakes that guys like John Riek and Matok have made. Just being tall does not make you NBA ready, so it is good that Leek understands that he is a PROJECT and needs to work hard to develop. He is certainly worth monitoring.

I just watched some video of Leek. It was not much to go on, so we will make do. As a PROJECT player, I really liked what I saw. He is MUCH more fluid (not as mechanical) as most of the tall African players that come over(Reik/Hamanga...). Leek also has a more Americanised hoops understanding with which helps with his basketball IQ. I have always questioned whether those guys could succeed in this GU system, but I think Leek can. Now he has a lot of work to do, and must get his legs stronger. But he is not super skinny, and has a good frame to add bulk. He did not shoot a jumper in the video--I really wanted to see how his shooting mechanics are. So I can't judge/comment on his shooting mechanics. So these are the things that I saw and liked:
Strengths: 1. Fluid for a big African import 2. good athleticism 3. Nice right hand jump-hook 4. Nice baseline drop-step 5. Pretty good hands 6. Good passer for a big, and sees court well 7. goes after the rebounds(needs more strength) 8. Good shot block (goes up without fouling).
I will not go into his weakness now, because I did not see enough yet to really break it down.
All and all I was impressed with the little I could see. GU should have 4 schollies for the 2011 class. So without being definitive GU should be taking a PG, Wing, and a ready to play tall PF/C. Then GU can use that 4th schollie on a project like Leek. I think Leek could be a very good player by his junior season, because it will take a while for him to get the strength and full skill to be ready to play. The best comparison would be a shorter Dikemembe, but with more fluidity and and skill at this stage. Still need to see more.

Offer him now. If he wants to be Hoya, then let him. I want the kids that really want to be at Georgetown and know what it means to be a Hoya. This kid is perfect, even if he is a project. Look at what happened the last time we took a project big-man....nuff said.

Yes but my point is high major programs are already on him; we just need to continue visiting him and contacting him constantly. Second of all, how many of those other 2011 bigs have been quoted as wanting to come here. None.

Yes. Only time will tell where these kids will end up. Will B will sign in November '10. For the Memphis program, a lot of things can happen before the early signing day.
The ESPN.com update:
"ESPNU 100 Will Barton and his brother pick Tigers
Will Barton, along with his brother Antonio, decided it was the right time to make a commitment on Friday and picked the Memphis Tigers..."

Do NOT think JT3 should offer Leek just yet. I was only pointing out his positives. I'm sure JT3 needs to see a lot more from Leek, and if he improves on the areas of his game that JT3 wants him to then he will eventually get the offer. Gtown is in contact with him and he understands the situation. It does not matter what internet fans think.

Fast forward to MM October 2010, keeping the tradition going ...Deng commits to Georgetown just after the crowd finishes chanting "Greg Monroe's Mom, Greg Monroe's Mom!!!". The legacy lives on!!

Ok, I have just watched more film of Leek. He is WAY raw. He has good potential, but certainly not near ready for Gtown to offer an official scholarship. He is certainly worth monitoring and keeping in contact with, because the potential is there. He does have good mechanics on his jumpshot, so that is encouraging. But he has a lot of work to do. He does not run the court very well, and really struggles with some of the basic fundamentals. Since he is on his 4th highschool in 3 years, Gtown and any other school with common sense will take its time before officially offering. Just gotta keep monitoring him...
