If Calipari bolts, wouldn't Memphis allow recruits out except not letting them sign with Kentucky?
That being the case, he had a pretty significant group going to Memphis and I am not sure if any would be a Hoya fit or possible get. Comments & thoughts?

90% he's gone but nothing done/signed. Hard to say no to $6m, right?

Isn't DeMarcus Cousins the one who wouldn't commit to UAB because of concerns that Mike Davis would leave. How ironic...

The whisper I'm hearing is that Wall and Cousins would go with Cal. Not sure about Henry, nor how reliable my sources are, sure a guru would be able to help a little bit more.

I don't think we'd really be in the market for the kids Memphis had. Only one that could make sense would be Darnell Dodson who is a local product who went to junior college. I think he'll be a real nice player, always has, and he'd fit our system because he's a lanky and skilled player who is a great outside shooter. However as a 2/3, positionwise he doesn't really fit what we're in the market for right now though.
Rumor is that Memphis is now looking to speak with and potentially hire the coach from Missouri, Anderson. That means their recruits might come on the market (quick glance, they're local products who wouldn't be natural targets for GU). Plus, whoever Missouri gets to fill their coaching vacancy, whatever school they come from's recruits, and on down the line. Love the carousel in the offseason and hope we can take advantage somewhere.

Rumor is that Memphis is now looking to speak with and potentially hire the coach from Missouri, Anderson. That would make sense because of the similar systems and that would be a good hire, Anderson seem like a really good coach, mizzou kind of came out of nowhere (if you just think about national press) If i am a memphis fan, along with being very depressed because i have a degree from memphis, i would be really Editeded that Cal is leaving. that recruiting class he had, if it had worked out, would have been outrageous. with that team he could have won the BE let alone win CrapUSA

why would anderson leave mizzou for memphis? of course $$ talks but is there another good reason?

why would anderson leave mizzou for memphis? of course $$ talks but is there another good reason? the only things i could think of would be Money, and then at Memphis, even without Cals recruits he would still have a team that could dominate the CUSA. In the Big12 you could argue they COULD get more exposure, but Memphis gets tons, and the exposure will disappear once KU and Texas start dominating again.

Memphis has fans and Mizzou had none until it was clear they were an Elite Eight team this year....also Dodson cannot play at a big east school since he was committed to Pitt...

another reason he'd leave mizzou: Fan support. I haven't checked to make sure this is true, but i was was told that if you remove games against kansas Mizzou averages 800 fans a game. Memphis blows that out of the water. People don't care about basketball at missouri at all.

He'd leave Mizzou to go coach a team that has been a recent winner, plays in a conf that he could dominate with subpar talent, and of course more money.

If Cal is making the move mentioned in the article, that is beyond and jerk move. Sad day for Memphis.

Wow, Calipari has certainly lived up to his slime ball reputation. What a piece of trash, he leaves Memphis, which is his choice, but then he is basically threatening the school about transfers? Sure, put in a good word for your friend, but to be this explicit about it is just sleezy.
I hope Memphis tells him to shove it. Besides, in a few years, UM would be better off with a legit coach like Mike Anderson than some nobody coaching UTEP. Anderson rebuilt Mizzou in like 3 years, he would actually be starting from a much higher level at UM even with transfers.

calipari has been a slime his whole career. he was on the staff at pitt during the roy chipman tenure that was littered with recruiting allegations that led to paul evans being hired. one time, coach cal told a recruit that was considering both pitt and st johns that lou carnesecca was dying of cancer so the kid would pick pitt. his sliminess will fit in well at kentucky.
