Seeing how this team takes shape and who is ultimately on it will be very interesting because there is definite potential for this team to become a)one of the best AAU programs on the east coast and b)a program that is favorable to Georgetown due to Pops' connections with Nike. Re: Gbinije, I think UNC is going to make him a/the top priority in 2011 and that has been tough to overcome for anyone in recent years. But who knows. I'm interested to see what other 2011 players end up with Takeover though. At this point we're probably narrowing in on a handful of guys for 2010, but 2011 is still wide open.

gbinije will be one of the top targets at sf for everyone. i think mcadoo is the pf they covet. going to be tough, but the big east is showing each year to be the toughest conference. acc is showing how to stunt the development of top talent. in most cases...

Barton is quickly becoming a priority in '10 over Roscoe in my mind. Especially if we're only going to have one more schollie(depending on '09) in that class.

Glad to see that Hopkins is with Takeover and not Assault. Gbinje is surely a top priority for us (and everyone else) in 2011. Curious to see how Gorski performs against high level competition and if he can prove to be a high major center or not.
I saw some highlights of that guy Egbeyemi one time and he looks like he really has some potential. Really good athlete/leaper and he can shoot it too. He's a shooting guard and he's 2010, when we've got some other wings on the radar, so I don't know that he will be heavily recruited by us, but I thought he definitely looked like a high major prospect. Plays at NCA.
Is Jerami Grant brothers with Jerai and Jerian? Cute naming patter Harvey.

I like that Stevens has the young players like Ginbji and Hopkins playing up in the 17U division. They might take their lumps and not get as many wins, but it will make them better. They won't get anything out of dominating their own age group.

From Dave Telep re: Hopkins' play at Hoop Jamboree:
Mikael Hopkins, 2011 (Maryland): Having seen him with his high school team and now in a camp setting, you can see the confidence in his own abilities coming out. Liked how active he was around the basket.

blurb on hopkins from his play at Nike Hoops Jamboree:
"Mikael Hopkins (6-foot-7.5, 8-foot-9.5 reach) – Hopkins is an athletic post player with potential as a face up player. He didn't shoot the ball from the outside, but Hopkins did attack the basket off the dribble. Already an aggressive rebounder, he has an impressive physical frame that is certain to bulk up."
The height is WITHOUT shoes.

Per Scout:
Matt Giorski, C: All we’re looking for is measurable improvement with the big fellas and Matt’s heading in the right direction. Introverted as a sophomore, he’s coming out of his shell, communicating on the court and finishing with a presence. Has good touch and should receive plenty of high-major recruitment.
Michael Gbinije, SF: After a strong NBA Camp, Gbinije’s first game at the Peach was a good one. When he’s making his jumper like has this summer it really opens up all facets of his game. Darion Atkins, PF, Takeover: We’ve got a new name in the game. This guy goes about 6-7, has a live body and is beginning to rise as a prospect. He’ll have a chance to be recruited high level if he can keep building on his first effort.
