Did anyone think DaJuan was Jeff Jr.? I've never thought of them as remotely similar players. Agree completely that DS has to be his own guy. I hope that means more than just shooting the 3. Really liked the midrange he showed against Nova. I've not been able to figure out why he hasn't used more of that. It seemed like he used that part of his game early in the season and then just settled for 3's after that. If only we could combine that midrange game with following his shots and being in better position to rebound..... I digress. Great to have him back for his senior year. I hope it does wonders for the team and for him personally and I think it will if he commits to his work in the off-season (I have no doubt that he will) and commits to playing a team game and not just going for his (fingers crossed but the Nova game was a nice start).

Uh, yeah, that is why we recruited him. Maybe he wouldn't be as good as Jeff (Jeff was the #5 pick overall) but I did not think by now he would not be able to pass, catch a pass, defend the post, or rebound. But he can't. And that's what we learned. But Jeff Jr. is on the team now and it's Greg. So we should let Dajuan be Dajuan. And that means he's a scorer. Greg needs to work on becoming Jeff. Dajuan just needs to be freshman Dajuan on steroids. That means no turnovers, better handle, and perimeter defense. He's a finisher and not a facilitator and if we use him as such that's OK.

It'll be nice not to lose both Greg and Dajuan -- which despite our young core would really kill us on both height and experience.

Here's hoping DS will make the most of his senior year on the Hilltop in every way possible, for himself, and for the team. Great news for the team, and hoping for all the best for Dajuan as a person and a student.

I think Clarke made a great point that Summers sort of mirrors the Hoyas this year. He's got tons of potential and there have been some games where he's been absolutely superb. But we don't see that side of him on a consistent basis, and when he's bad he's really bad and hurts the team with all of his turnovers.
In a way his talent is what makes him so annoying for us fans. If he was just some scrub we'd have no problem with the way he's playing. But we've seen how good he can be and know he has it in him to be a star, so when he plays badly it's hugely frustrating.
The team this year is the same way - if we were just plain bad, the losses to Louisville and Marquette wouldn't hurt, and we'd be ecstatic rather than relieved about the Nova win. But we saw this team beat Memphis and UConn and absolutely obliterate Syracuse at the Phone Booth. The fact that we know we can be so good makes our struggles all the more frustrating.

I referred to him as "Jeff, Jr." because that was how he was called on the team his freshman year. Not the point in any case. Dajuan is not Bo-Bo, Jeff, or Reggie. Funny, how folks have stopped referring to him as "The Dagger", "The Assassin", or other references to killing and sharp implements. New nickname, perhaps?

The important part of that article was JTIII's response that now is not the time to ask that question. Even if a player was planning to leave, he should not say so now. After the season Summers and JTIII will talk to people and get a good idea of whether and where he might be drafted. It may be in his interests to put his name in and go through a few workouts but withdraw from the draft by the deadline.

Stig... I guess I disagree because there have been exceedingly few games where DaJuan has been superb. Take the Nova game for instance. He showed up when he needed him but he had a bunch of turnovers most of which came at bad times. He does that. I don't know why but he does. If we had lost, it would have been the same DS bashing that always happens. A lot gets dismissed when you win. I don't lack faith in DS at all. I think he can improve greatly and, regardless of +/-, I FEEL like we're a better team with him on the floor. It's like the heart is willing and the skillset is lacking by just a smidge right now. I can SEE him carrying this team. Just not right now. And I can see that he WANTS to carry this team and that says a lot about him. When potential and opportunity meet and one is equal to the other is why I'm so flippin' psyched he's coming back because he doesn't strike me as a guy that doesn't put the time in and work at it (I know I'm violating the speculation rule as I don't know DaJuan personally but instead of calling it speculation, let's call it benefit of the doubt). And, for the record, I love fired up DaJuan like he was against Nova. I love that he takes it personally on the floor and has that angry look and seems to hate our opponents. Love it. Love that (for now) I can think of seeing that disdain for the rest of the Big East for another year. High fives and fist bumps at the end of the game and all out war during it....... Imagine if you went to a C-USA school? Viva la Big East!!!

Nothing but the best for you DS! Work hard during the off-season and get ready to enjoy your last year as a student-athlete.
