We need another guard. Going in with Clark as a backup PG is worrisome.
I know a lot of people wonder about Vinson, but we're not the only high major that obviously has some questions.

I wonder the same thing. I think that going after Williams, Vinson, Sanford, and Tristian Spurlock who recently said he is strongly considering decommitting from UVA. THey wont all come anyway. As it stands now, with the loss of Sapp and addition of Hollis, Hoyas will have 10 on scholarship next year. We have 3 left. Try and bring in Williams, Sanford, and Spurlock/Vinson. in 2010 we def will have two, Summers and Monroe, and are bringing in two with Lubblick and Starks. That would have us at 13 for 2010. Another scholarship will probably open up with some type of transfer, but I guess my point is not to mortgage the present for the future. Meaning, lets not get good talent in we could land in 09 b/c we are hopeful we can land better talent in 10.

Yes we need another guard. I love clark but him brining up the ball against pressure worries me. He can't really handle the pressure at this point.

ID- i'm told latavious is not as much a perimeter guy as stanley robinson. others made ewing comparison which i like more. hopefully, he can develop moe skills and be as versatile as ewing.

He's not a ballhandling guard. To me, Vinson is just completely at the wrong position and game for us. Should we find big men in case Monroe goes/supplement Monroe? Yes. Do we need a PG because we have one good ballhandler? Yes. Do we really need an undersized four/three man? Err. We have Hollis and Austin and Summers (if he stays) at the three. I know opinions are mixed on Nikita, but for 09 I'm not sure Vinson is better. But even if he's not, I don't see where Vinson fits.

Those were two seperate statements. I know Vinson isn't a ball handler, but is a player who just gets things done. Don't have enough of those on this roster. Alot of activity, yet very little achievement. That said, Latavious, Spurlock and Vee would be a pretty good haul this late in the game.

Keep a look out as to whether Calipari takes the Kentucky job. Do all the recruits he signed follow him? What does this mean for Latavious Williams' recruitment? Note: the UK job came open the day after Memphis lost.

but talking about the UK job and other job openings. Are there any players out there on the teams who have lost their coaches who are looking to decommit that we might be interested in?

I know that UVA's recruits have been mulled over a bit here, but I wonder if VCU was bringing any quality guys who would be looking to stay close(ish) to home? Not so much as first choices but quality second choices if Williams doesn't work out or we lose DaJuan or Greg (or anybody else) "how do transfer's really help us?....I'm pretty sure we need reinforcements NEXT year...not '10" we are not talking about current players, but recruits who can get out of their LOI's and play immediately.

SO here's what I found:
Daniel Orton #22 Rivals 6-10/260 C committed to Kentucky described as : Long big man who is good in the high post.
Jon Hood #32 6-6/185 G Committed to Kentucky Multi-skilled guard with size.
Shawn Kemp #96 Rivals 6-9/215 C Committed to Alabama Athletic big man with upside.
Those are the ones in the Rivals top 150. Obviously none of them might want to leave. But hey but if daniel orton wants on board i'd be cool with it.

I don't think we have the budget (or, you know, the complete lack of morals) to do that. msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/9344918/A-March-Madness-scandal-the-NCAA-sanctions
