I'm sure DFW and Dan McQ have to give warnings like this all the time. Elitist.

My brother is among the tens of thousands still without power in Kentucky and elsewhere. He and others have had no power since Tuesday. What is FEMA doing? And, where is our President? Haven't seen any reports of him being in the area hit. For at least four years, the B&G board is going to be unreadable, isn't it? Hit the nail on the head with that one.

Yeah, but neither Barack Obama, George Bush nor any of the rest of us care about Buffalonians.
You guys harbor terrorists.

Hit the nail on the head with that one. Get used to it. You made the board unreadable for the last eight years. Well, I've been a member of the board since March, 2007, so I apologize for some portion of those 8 years. But I hardly see how I could have done anything for most of that stretch. Now if by "you," you mean "Democrats" or "liberals," then you really are barking up the wrong tree. I support Obama and dislike Bush. For the Republicans to ever stand a chance again, you're going to have to put up w/ a lot more of people like me.

Hasn't this board only been around since 2004 anyway? You know, like several months after the declaration of Mission Accomplished?

Maybe not as often as we have them here -- and they were usually dominated by discussions of "Who is hotter, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Kristy Swanson?" or discussions of "Why does Ron love Tony Bethel so much?" -- but they were there, from time to time.

Ron: also known in those days as "Tony Bethel's Uncle". Good times.

We didn't have many, because the old board only allowed 100 posts or so at a time and then they'd all start disappearing, so any discussion off topic would kill most of the basketball talk. For instance, here's a link to almost 8 years ago today (02/07/2001) - it was a simpler time when all we had to worry about was whether Kevin Braswell was a great point guard, or the greatest point guard : web.archive.org/web/20010207043918/http://www.sportsonly.com/boards/gtown/but here's one argument about Bush / Clinton that DFW must have looked the other way on : web.archive.org/web/20030622104211/http://www.sportsonly.com/boards/gtown/

I think the old board had more political discussions.
Well, it had more threads of Ron and thebin arguing over race issues.

That's exactly what I LOVED about the old board!! That site got me through the Good Times; i.e. senior year, and the Dark Times; i.e. separation anxiety after graduation/he-who-shall-not-be-named's teams.

Good Lord, FEMA. www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/04/fema.peanut.butter/For all of the Obama supporters on the board, I am NOT criticizing the Obama administration with this link. This particular "Good Lord" is directed squarely at FEMA and no one else. Having said that, it wouldn't surprise me if this was just a scare or an overreaction and that all of the peanut butter turned out to be fine. But, at the same time, you KNEW (or should have known) that there is a widespread problem with peanut butter at the moment. I realize opening emergency rations, removing peanut butter and re-sealing them is probably an expensive process, but it would have been worth it in hindsight. Either that, or how about just a note on each kit, saying "Don't eat the peanut butter." A little quicker and less expensive.
