Well if this team has any pride whatsoever, they'll respond better to this off-court challenge than they have to on-court challenges.

Worst case scenario - Summers is out for the year, we become even more disjointed, continue to plummet and play in the NIT. Dajuan realizes the fragile nature of an athlete's career, declares for draft to try to make some money now in case injuries begin to plague him. Greg is so disappointed by NIT appearance he also takes the money and runs. JTIII hears one too many questions at press conference about frustration of HoyaTalk posters, decides to take Alabama job where no one cares about hoops. Georgetown brings back Craig Esherick to run the show. Now THAT is a worst case scenario !! 2 4 6 8 that sux! GoodNESS, Frazier! Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery, DaJuan Hyperbole is apparently lost on some of you people.

So can one of the docs on here make a prediction as to when he would be available? Speculation would be both uninformed and inappropriate here. You'll have to wait for the program to make an announcement - although if you read the coach's quotes from the Post link above it appears doubtful he will play Saturday.

Speaking as a physician, plantar fasciitis usually requires rest and anti-inflammatories and surgery is not a primary mode of treatment, so I am not sure who the Post were talking to as a medical source. It is also not a condition that usually results immediately from a fall. As far as I am aware, surgery would only potentially be needed if the plantar fascia was torn. As an example, David Wells pitched most of a season with plantar fasciitis. I was thinking the same thing. From my experience with that affliction, the injury occurs over time. It isn't typically related to a specific incident. If there was a tear in that muscle, then I would guess that injury to be more severe than "merely" the more common inflamed variety. In the normal case, the question is essentally pain. Rest is the only thing that will heal the injury, so it comes down to how much pain can the player tolerate and will the pain detract from his game. Most recently, that was one of Percy Harvin's foot issues. Also, Matt Bonner had that problem at the end of the season his senior season. As a result, he was out and we got bounced in the first round by Manhattan. In any case, do any of you doctor types know if it is common to have fasciitis develop immediately after one unique incident?

He has like 10 free throw shots over the entire 2008-09 NBA Season. Basically he just hangs along the 3Pt line.

hifi: you can strain the plantar fascia the same way you strain an ankle ligament. It is possible that is what happened but that is nothing more than speculation and we all know you can't do that here.

OK, I'm going with a best case scenario. Come 2nd half of Saturday's game, ww're locked in a tight game. And Summers disappears from the bench. A few minutes later he returns in uniform to light it up.
It could happen!

Some kind of foot issue, stress fracture or something. Was it anything like what DaJuan is facing?

And we have a new contender for stupidest thing I've ever read: www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/38646712.htmlMU coach Buzz Williams, on the other hand, expects Summers to play.
"He'll play. He's an All-American," said Williams. "DaJuan Summers will play. They'll call out his name before they ever tip it off." Gee, thanks Buzz. Are you basing that on your extensive experience coaching in the Big East, or because you moonlight as a medical doctor--one who can make diagnoses from 1000 miles away.

He just doesn't want his kids to feel overconfident because they are playing a HOYA team that is in a serious slump and just lost our leading scorer.

Hey SirSaxa, you just hit on a huge positive. If the Marquette players saw any game film from the SHU or UC games, they are definitely going to be overconfident heading into the game Saturday!

SirSaxa: I do not know. I seem to remember hearing something about a stress fracture, but I am not certain Wright's actual injury was publicized.
