In the stairwell on the left leading up to the balcony in McDonough there is a five foot by eight foot photograph of the court rush. It is impossible not to look for yourself in the picture. Although my Alumni friends and I left the assault for the students, we all look really, really happy.

I think it's so memorable and it sticks out in so many Hoya fans' minds is because the program had just fallen off so badly, and we'd become one of those teams that was battling at the end of the season for a spot in the tourney. Not the NCAA tourney, but the Big East tourney. Very thankful for that game. Will not ever forget that one. But I, like a lot of you, am ready for some new memories. Good points, especially by someone who called the victory well before most even gave us a chance! I'll admit it to you, but keep it under your hat, I had my doubts leading up to that game. But after we played UCONN, I believed again. If it wasn't for JJ Redick completely BEASTING that game, we beat them going away. But that victory was very sweet indeed.

I remember calling my dad on the phone at halftime to say "this is unbelievable." I believe that's the only time I ever did that during a college basketball game. The Pitt BET championship game and the UNC game were bigger wins, but this game clearly holds a place in the pantheon of great GU victories. More than any win that preceded it during the JTIII era (yes, more than the Pitt win the year before), it said to everyone, "hey, we're back. Learn to deal with it." If people choose to rehash the game on its anniversary, I say have a good time.
And for Ed, if our players don't leave early for the NBA, that next win over Duke will come next season.

I was there in the Esh years - I was on the court when we beat Syracuse. When we beat Duke, I was walking the freedom trail in Boston when a friend SMSd me the news. I must have thought that playing the #1 team in the country would not be competitive or interesting to watch. I don't remember why I didn't watch the game but I remember that when I learned we won my heart skipped and there was an elation one feels only so often in life.
Since that game, I have made every effort to observe every game since then regardless of where in the world I was - even if it means hitting refresh on my blackberry browser every 15 seconds for the entire game while I am at a club in Mumbai (which I did this past weekend). In JTIII I trust!
