Despite the fact that the show seriously jumped the shark last season, I'm actually looking forward to tonight. I think moving the location from LA to DC will be a fresh change.

I would argue that in terms of being a remotely realistic show, it jumped the shark sometime halfway through season 2. But it is still entertaining as hell, no matter how absurd it gets. I also can't wait to see DC.

Word is Tony is the villain, and Kim is back. Unfortunately, greater DC has no mountain lions, so I don't know how long the DC location can last.

Saw the premiere on Wednesday (I won a contest sponsored by Fox). The first two hours are pretty good, though the plot is kind of cribbed from Die Hard 2.

Thought that it was pretty boring.
Also, if someone had really hacked into a system controlling air traffic, the power grid, the water supply, etc., I suspect the President might be more than mildly interested.

Hopefully tonight will explain how Tony survived a lethal dose of a torture drug.
Maybe the board can help solve other questions I had: 1) Has anyone seen a yellow cab in DC besides the opening scene of this show? 2) Where is there a shipyard/dock complex that can secretly host a terrorist base in DC?

This is enough pretense for a Cracked list: 5 Things Hollywood Thinks Computers Can DoRight on. It disturbs me how TV shows like 24 and CSI are dumbing down our population. On 24 they "hear" the name of a potential terrorist, plug it into the nearest computer and sure enough, there he is in the Giganticass Terrorist Database are multiple photographs of the suspect, a voiceprint, the names of his 100 closest friends, a wire diagram depicting his entire organization and its relationship to the Global Terrorist Conspiracy hierarchy, his last known whereabouts and what he had for lunch yesterday. Why would support letting U.S. intelligence agencies waste money on expensive new data-mining programs that would keep track of the library books innocent Americans check out when we already have the Giganticass Terrorist Database to keep track of the real terrorists? As for the President's lack of interest, I think we all know that problems that are utterly impossible to solve are best ignored altogether until everything falls apart, in which case you can treat the symptoms and blame everyone else for ignoring the problem. If you want to talk inconsistencies- the notion of an office park at 1208 Naylor Rd, where a bunch of federal agents can just lollygag around on the sidewalk without anyone trying to cap em. Ha. To answer mchoya's question, I'm pretty sure the terrorist "base" was tied up at the Southwest waterfront. Which means nothing much is going to happen in tonight's episode because Jack, the chick, and the pansy FBI boss are gonna spend an hour stuffing themselves at a greasy all-you-can-eat seafood buffet.

I want to know why that Senate hearing had a bailiff and how exactly the FBI "subpoenaed" Jack to a day long investigation.

It seems really odd to see Billy Walsh/Wally Balls working for the FBI.

It seems really odd to see Billy Walsh/Wally Balls working for the FBI. And that Warden Norton recovered from his suicide attempt to rise to the rank of SecDef. We warned you, Commander Solberg, you keep running around the neighborhood chasing noise violations and open containers there's real crimes gonna go unpunished. And now ya got a full-on terrorist house on Prospect Street. Dagger. You know who really oughta be tortured? Whoever wrote Agent Walker's dialogue in the first two episodes. The scene where she was arguing with her boss about whether to take Jack with her to find the boat was redick-u-lous-ly awful.

Yeah, not sure how I feel about this season yet, was expecting a little more. It's cool to see Jack, Tony, Bill, and Chloe working together again, as a reminder of the old times of CTU. I started watching 24 during Season 4, went back and watched DVDs of Seasons 1-3, then have followed through to now. I contend that Seasons 1 and 2 are the best, and Season 6 probably the worst. It's gone downhill because they've repeatedly recycled old story lines - I mean, how many moles, torture scenes, immunities and terrorist deal cutting can there be? Then again, I do keep watching, for now. I think part of the lack of new ideas is the restrictiveness of the real-time format, which is the reason the show was so entertaining in the first place. Maybe this season will be different, since it's the first not taking place at CTU Los Angeles.
Speaking of which, the scenes in DC are pretty cool, the shots in Georgetown were brief tonight but maybe there will be more in future episodes. Oh, and the episode ended in a house on Foxhall Road.

Metro arrived at the apartment of the man that the villains are setting up to be the fall guy for the final attack. They had noise complaints and wanted to investigate. Instead, they were convinced by the fall guy to leave because it was just some friends making noise. The terrorists are lucky that this incident didn't occur in Burlieth. They would have all been slapped with 61d violations! --- Now they're heading to the G Street mosque in Georgetown. Our neighborhood gets a shout out once again!

Now they're heading to the G Street mosque in Georgetown. Our neighborhood gets a shout out once again! The mention of that mosque prompted me to immediately text the g/f (also a 24 fan) w/ the question "Where the hell G Street in Georgetown?!"

Actually Securitas probably would have been on the scene first if it was Burlieth, the result of which would be many dead terrorists.

Hoya related trivia -- the actor who played the cop speaking to the fall guy is a GU grad.

The train ends at "Washington Center"? I know I've been out of the DC area for a couple years, I thought all Metro trains ended at the stop at the end of the line, none of which were located in downtown DC like Not Metro Center.

I mean technically the yellow line has an end "downtown". But yeah, wtf is Washington Center?
