Really I think the irritation among most peopel I have talked to is not the extra difficulty, b/c we have been taking metro for 2 years now. Its more that we are already paying $25 more this year than last, then plus will have to shell out at least another $30 or so for metro tickets. Obviously that isn't a lot of money, but in years past, transportation was already included in ticket prices. So basically, they increased our tickets by over $50 from last year, without letting us know. And I thinkk some people might have changed their mind on season tickets knowing that (since they can still get tickets for $10 per game, season tickets are no longer a great value, money wise)

The price of success. Stop whining, get on a public bus or use your feet, and get to the games. Options include: 1) Wisconsin Avenue -- The Circulator/30s buses, which will take you to Foggy Bottom. 2) M Street -- The Georgetown connectors, which will take you to Rosslyn or Dupont. 3) Main Gates -- the G2, which will take you to Dupont. 4) Burleith -- the D buses (D1/D2/D6), which take you to Dupont. You chose to attend college in a city. Get out there and enjoy that city. The adventure and/or walk won't kill ya.
Sheesh.

You can actually take the Circulator all the way to K and 7th St. - an easy walk to the Verizon Center. It is $1. From M St. you can also get on the 38B which will also take you to Foggy Bottom or Farragut West.

It sounds like the school is still running buses to the Metro; the complaint is that the school is no longer paying for the Metro. It wouldn't make much sense to pay for a different bus to get to the same train. In my senior year (last year) my roommates and I always just walked to Rosslyn because we lived close to M Street anyway. I certainly understand the frustration of the current students; I seem to remember only getting enough Metro passes for about half the games last year. Apparently we could have gone to McDonough to pick them up for the second half of the season, but much like this policy change, that was not communicated very well. That being said, a Metro fare to Verizon and back is $2.70 (that hasn't gone up, has it?). It's really not that big of a deal. It sounds to me like most of the students would probably not have minded if the Athletic Department told them in advance.

What does tuition room and board cost at GU now? $55,000/year? Are we to believe that the vast majority of the 3500 student season ticket holders can't come up with an extra $50 bucks to get themselves to the Verizon Center to watch the best program in college basketball?

Just so its out there, according to the Princeton review, 39% of students receive some type of financial aid.

I think that if a school doesn't have an on campus arena, transportation should be free for the students. Just my two cents.

If your school had an on-campus arena, many of your classmates wouldn't be able to attend every game because of seating capacity limitations, and your odds of attending as an alumni would be even slimmer. Be careful what you wish for.
