But he's going to? Or is that too much speculation for this board?

Are we still on Vinson? I was just doing some reading on him, and he sounds like the perfect sort of player for Georgetown. On a related note, in 2007 we got ESPN's #1 player from Maryland in Austin Freeman. In 2008, we did it again with Henry Sims. Vinson in #1 in the state for '09, Atkins for 2010. I personally would be giddy to see all 4 on a Georgetown roster at the same time...

I personally would be giddy to see all 4 on a Georgetown roster at the same time... Monitoring a lot of kids right now. This evaluation period/time. Kind of like the NFL before the draft... Between now and the end of the summer, the draft board will change. But Gtown will take the best players that fit, regardless of location. Fortunately, many of the best players that fit are all local (md/va/dc) in the 2010 class. BTW, Roscoe Smith is the best player from the sate of Maryland in the 09 or 2010 class What is funny is all of these chicken littles that think the sky is falling because some kids transfer. They are either just clueless about what is going on with Gtown recruiting or they are just haters. When programs grow, lessor players always transfer out as better talent comes in. Special kids like Tyler Crawford understand their roll and know that they are valuable parts. Other kids think that they should be lotto picks and find any excuse possible to leave rather than compete against possibly more talented players. Gtown has a top 5 class in 08. Depending on how many players III takes in 09, Gtown will have another top 5 class. And I won't even get into the 2010 class

How does Roscoe Smith fit in nationally? At least, where would you think, balla? From what everyone says about him, it sounds like he's a great player.

Epke Udoh is leaving Michigan, per Scout story today. He is good. Were we not recruiting him, at least marginally, as a HS player? To me he would be a much better transfer to take than Julian Vaughan and a better option than Riley. He could step in and start in '09 at the 4 or 5 right away - "worst case" (i.e., if Monroe and Sims are tearing it up) he could be a 25+ minute player as a backup at both positions. He is a great shotblocker and has developed a nice shooting touch. Udoh would be a strong fit with the Hoyas - far better than any big in the '09 HS class (or available transfers) that I'm aware of.

He (Udoh) would be a nice addition. He's tough defensively and he's a decent rebounder. Two areas of need.

I don't know much about Udoh, but after watching the Hoyas demolish Michigan this year I'm not sure if I'd want anybody on that team playing for us.
I'd keep my eyes in Julian Vaughan and J'Mison Morgan's direction. Vaughan's got a year under his belt, and we need experience up front. J'Mison has the punctuation we need in a name and is a big recruit.
Both are taller, too, which always helps in mine and lic's eyes.

I'm not sure that Vaughan and Morgan are taller than Udoh - if so, by no more than an inch (they are bulkier though). And Udoh is far superior to both athletically, so he plays taller (he gets off of the ground quickly and powerfully). I understand your reservations re Michigan players, but they (the team) got better as the year progressed, and Udoh got MUCH better as the year progressed. He is a player. Not saying Vaughan or Morgan wouldn't be welcome additions either, especially Morgan as an '08, but Udoh would be my top choice of the three.
Story on Rowley commiting to Northwestern as an '08 today on Scout implies that it came down to Northwestern and Georgetown. The implication from the quotes is that G'town offered him as an '08. Don't know if true, but I would certainly rather have Morgan as an '08 or Udoh as an '09 transfer than Rowley as an '08.

Could you provide some quotes gsurus?

I would if I knew how. The story states that Georgetown had an '08 spot open up recently due to Macklin's transfer, and then quotes Rowley's HS coach as saying that he and Rowley "outlined Northwestern and Georgetown - different situations - and I think that he felt that he was going to get on the court earlier at Northwestern".

Realistically, besides maybe a juco can we get any decent 08 post player? Not too many kids are drooling over the prospect of fighting for time over three (potentially) higher rated recruits.
From what little I've seen of Udoh in his two years in Ann Arbor I liked what I saw. imo, it would be an upgrade from Mack (especially if he was unhappy here) and at the very least it would be an experianced practice player for next season.

I'd put more stock in Vaughn than the other two.

He plays smart and hard. Kid is just a baller. He does everything well. Roscoe does not need to worry about the national scene, because everyone knows who he is. So there is no need to for Roscoe to get caught up with any aau leaches errr coaches. III has probably been to more of Roscoe's games than any kid in the country. Roscoe's pops knows the game, so I'm sure he has Roscoe working hard to improve on his weaknesses. He needs to improve the consistency on his shot and improve his outside game. He also needs to work on moving his feet better on defense. He plays the post a lot on defense in HS, but in college he will be defending on the perimeter.

Interesting, thanks balla. I didn't mean him getting mixed up with the aau coaches and whatnot, I was just wondering what you thought of him in comparison to the top national recruits.
