News ois breaking tonight that Olbermann and Matthews will be less central to MSNBC's coverage of the debates, after what bigwigs considered to be a shoddy convention performance. Maybe they can put Joe Scarborough in charge so coverage is truly neutral.

I think Matthews & Scarborough hosting together would be a vast improvement over Matthews & Olbermann.
Scarborough is definitely a Republican, but he also definitely hates George Bush & the neocons and he calls out Republicans on a lot of issues. Matthews I think, as I have said before, has gone off the reservation a bit in the past few years, but even though he's a fairly liberal Democrat, I do remember that he was one of the Clinton administration's harshest critics. I think he is capable of looking at both sides evenly. Keith is not.
So, I think you'd get a pretty fair balance out of those two together. Almost as importantly (or maybe more importantly), they are both likable. Even when I disagree with Matthews, which is most of the time, I still enjoy watching him (well, OK, not always).
I don't find anything likable about Olbermann. He really has become the bizarro Bill O'Reilly, which I guess was his goal, but I'd be just as upset with Fox if they had O'Reilly hosting their political coverage.

Why would they need to make any adjustments?

Why would they need to make any adjustments? When Bill Kristol is anchoring your convention coverage, we've got problems.

Why would they need to make any adjustments? When Bill Kristol is anchoring your convention coverage, we've got problems. I'm sorry, I thought Brit Hume (at least during prime time) was the anchor. I didn't realize Bill Kristol had taken over. Of course, it's hilarious to see the liberals now whining that the reason McCain-Palin is surging is because of the media www.huffingtonpost.com/adam-mckay/were-gonna-frickin-lose-t_b_124772.html

Boz, I wouldn't go so far as to call Chris Matthews "likable." That is a stretch for sure, but he's no Olberman.
kc, don't confuse Bando with facts; that might wreck the utopian Never-Neverland he has in his convoluted mind.
Somewhat off subject, I really do like Brit Hume. I think we all know that he is a conservative thinker, but the difference is that he realizes that he is a newscaster not a journalist -- something that has always managed to elude the Brokaws, Jennings, Rathers etc... of the world.
