I don't have a link, but Senator Ted Stevens from Alaska has been indicted in Federal court for improprieties. The longest serving Republican Senator has been charged with 7 counts related to his holdings and his position as a Senator.
News conference coming at 1:20 pm.

The seven felony charges are for filing false financial disclosure statements for 1999-2006.

Who knows, might actually be blessing in disguise for the GOP in terms of holding onto the Senate seat - now Stevens might not even make it out of the primary. But if he does, geez, the Dems could be looking at 6 very doable pickups in the Senate? (CO, NH, NM, VA are likely...plus now AK and maybe even OR)

The Dems are running Mark Begich, the Mayor of Anchorage, where half the population resides. Begich is going to win.

He's the first Democratic presidential candidate to set up campaign offices with paid staff in the state in years. He's within 10 points in the state.

As a former resident of Randy "Duke" Cunningham's congressional district, let me just say I am shocked to see a politician taking bribes.

Are you shocked? There's a difference there Easyed--in order to be a former resident of William Jefferson's district, you would have had to move.

At least the Republicans seem to get rid of their bad guys rather than re-electing them. And, in all honesty, the "crimes" committed by some of those listed were not equivalent to those of Mr. Jefferson.

ed, in fairness, isn't that weirdo who was charged with trying to solicit gay sex at the rest stop restroom still serving? He does now claim to deny the charges against him, but personally I ain't buying it.
