Considering most threads in the last month at least somewhere allude to the fact that we desperately need Kenner to start (or Midnight Madness to get here), can we maybe pin a thread w/ schedule, roster, etc. up top? I'm sure there are links somewhere on the board, but I did a quick search for "kenner," got nothing, and gave up immediately...because I'm a quitter. I'm thinking the board would be ok w/ pinning something up top. Yay/nay?

I'm sure the admins will do this, but right now, there is not much to pin.
No schedules, no rosters.....all we know at this point, pretty much, is July 5 - Aug. 10 at McDonough.
Perhaps two pinned threads might be in order when the time comes. One for a schedule & rosters, and one for game observations, recaps, etc. (so the former doesn't get lost in the 30+ pages of the latter).
On second thought, the second one probably won't need to be pinned. I can't imagine a half hour going by without someone commenting on a player, game, wacky coach, band-aid some Hoya has on his right elbow, celebrity/recruit sighting etc. ;D

Is it open to the public, just drift into McDonough and watch whatever you want, or is there any kind of formality to it? Any veteran Kenner observers have any tips?

Games are free. Anyone can go.
Just don't plan on games always starting when they're scheduled or for the players listed on a roster to be all the same players who are in a particular game.
The weeknight games usually go off as planned. For weekends, my best advice is just plan on making a day of it and stay for a few games.
(and bring your own food)

Last year was the first year I went to Kenner games (although I'm not sure why...seems like the kind of thing I should have done sooner). But it really was as entertaining/fun/ridiculous as one could expect from a summer league. At least when I was there, there was no semblance of order or formality beyond the referee. The screaming coach (who if I recall correctly this board calls McScreamerson, or something of that sort--if we don't, we should) lived up to the hype as he spent virtually the entire game shouting at every player on the floor. He really made timeouts great. Beyond that, there's obviously a ton of talent out there, but in most cases, not many teammates playing together, so the games definitely took on a sort of And 1 Mixtape Tour feel to them, which I had no problem with b/c it meant Ewing got to throw the ball down when he felt like it. Then, Jeff rolled in just to visit JTII and some others. Overall, good times. And free, so you can't beat the price.

Just have a thread pinned to the top with the schedule and rosters, and then update that thread with links to the semi-official game recap thread for each game.

Are the games at McDonough? For some reason I had in my head they were somewhere in Maryland.
I guess if I'm suppose to bring my own food I'll also have to sneak out to the car for adult beverage breaks? You know, as long as I'm not driving...

Non-clear water bottle . . . not that I advocate breaking the law or anything, in fact I highly discourage it :-( . . .. I presume FLHoya will be there to give us his excellent comprehensive coverage of the Kenner League?

I'm going to be out of town most of the end of July, so it's looking like I'll only be able to make about half the games. Will do my best when I'm there. Don't drink and drive.

Well this is clearly unacceptable. Don't we have you under contract or something? Good point. FL Hoya's problem is he's stuck with the Hoyas no matter what else he does in his career and life, because it's in his blood now. He HAS to write about them. Lucky for us.

I vote we ban FL Hoya unless he goes to all Kenner games. This is CLEARLY unacceptable and a breach of his Hoya Superfan contract.
Seriously, I can't explain how Editeded I am right now. How DARE YOU have a life outside of Georgetown basketball!
