1) The Shuttle will be a big issue for ATR/DOJ, no doubt about it. 2) I thought USAir had a big presence at BWI? they used to, no? 3) Of course. But what I mean is that US Airways is already in it and there may not be as difficult of a time in integrating it. Make no mistake, Continental was the first choice cheerleader that United wanted to bring to the prom. US Airways is the homely girl that may or may not turn out to be a good fit.

Most city airports (like Long Beach and Chicago Midway) are at capacity. They also have very short runways, so only narrow bodied planes can use them. They can't be expanded since they're hemmed in on all sides by the city. Kansas City can be expanded, but it has the worst terminal design in the country. Correction, MCI has the best terminal design in the country if your going to/from Kansas City. If you're connecting through, then I admit it sucks. However, there are plans being developed to change the setup: Other than than that - Kansas City has two very attractive things going for it - location in the middle of the country and lots of room to expand. In fact, there's so much space Bombardier is looking at possibly locating a new aircraft plant at the airport. There's only so much airspace over Boston-NYC-DC, and over O'Hare, Atlanta, etc., and only so many runways. Other airports are going to have to start being an option.
