I thought Nantz and Packer were gonna hug each other on camera when Curry finally hit. And how come the refs didn't squeeze in one last foul call on that last Davidson offensive sequence?
This game is so ugly that I'm gonna do shots throughout halftime so that hopefully it at least LOOKS prettier in the second half.... sorta like I used to do at the Tombs around midnight.
On a positive note, I'm placing an order for a Macklin jersey. When can we get Rivers into the Vernon Macklin Freethrow Clinic?

An amazing performance by Packer over the final two minutes -- first, as Tbird pointed out, he was astonished by the brilliant use of an offense/defense sub pattern (holy !), and then he calls Wallace our best defender agst dribble penetration. Oh, and I love how he hasnt seen Mack smile in a long time, as if he regularly follows our games. Dick.

3 Hoyas have outscored Curry at halftime.

they've attempted 9 more shots than us. without the turnovers, we're up almost 20.

too many turnovers as usual. Actually, we didn't turn the ball over that much. Some pretty weak offensive foul calls contributed to those 8 TOs in the first half.

24 fouls. And neither Packer nor Nantz have said a word. Jesus it must suck to be an ACC fan and think this is normal This game is being called for the media. I wonder if the NBA is involved. I also wonder if they commission officials who typically call ACC games for this since NC State is hosting. Anyone recognize these guys or catch their names?

I'm just sad we're not getting thoughts from Seth Davis at the half.

From Camille's article:
"[Curry] scored 30 of the Wildcats' 46 points in the second half, as they overcame an 11-point deficit, and he made 8 of 10 three-point shots, "
As 1984alloveragain said--we HAVE TO KEEP UP THE DEFENSIVE INTENSITY
that, plus a fresh Roy, will be more than enough to put this team away. Wonder if the refs are going to keep blowing the whistle in the second half, or if they've filled their quota for ticky tack fouls?

V Mack 4-6 from the line - apparently the rumors about his FT prowess in practice are true.
Curry 2-8 from the floor and 1-5 from 3 - only one open look (the one he made) from 3 that I saw.

I did not catch their names but that is certainly possible; several of the guys doing the games at Verizon Center yesterday were Big East refs.

The key is the first 5 minutes in the second half. Obviously, Davidson is going to make some adjustments. So often, teams have come out strong in the second half.
Guys!! Please don't let the lead evaporate in the beginning of the second half.

These refs are too bad to allow this game to back into a close situation

These refs are too bad to allow this game to back into a close situation The thing is though, we've shown them a totally new court and Vern has been an unexpected force. So their analysis for reaction is only of the first half. We have so many different methodical variations we can throw at them if they come back with an answer. Feels like a (10-2) mismatch ... thus far.

Hasn't the trend been that the opponent closes the gap a bit and then we extend?

Not over by any means - Curry can get hot quick - gotta keep up the intensity. I'll relax when it's over.
That being said, I'll take a 11 point halftime lead with Roy playing only 5 min and summers & wallace not doing much.

I like our defensive game plan against Davidson - no one is chasing Curry around all these screens. He gets tired running around the screens and popping out - at any given time the man following him has only been running those same curls 25% of the time. He also isn't the greatest defender in the world - we need to drive at him and take him out of the game.
If I were Davidson, I would start getting the ball to Curry before they even cross half-court and running a high screen and roll with Lovedale to take advantage of the switching and doubling off of Curry.

sumemrs can do tons of damage if he can stay on the floor. they don't have anyone that can check him.

Davidson's offense in the first half consisted of one thing - the little point guard driving to the basket, the refs calling a touch foul, and him knocking down 7 of 8 at the line. Even though we are up 11, we cant come out and start the second asleep (which we did on friday, continuing the trend) bc we really dont want the fans getting into it. Go inside to Roy and as long as he doesnt get frustrated and pick up ticky tacks we'll be fine.
