Another recruit for next year, and Maggie's sister, Emily Infeld, just won the Nike Outdoor National 1 mile, as she led wire to wire in 4:47.44 and won by about three seconds.

Robert Finnerty of MINNESOTA won the boys' mile at the Nike outdoor nationals. He had run a 4:01.9 last week. Hoyatrackalum, can you use your Minny influence to get him to Georgetown?

I meet him last year in Minnesota and he was wearing a Gerogetown Tee-shirt. He liked the school as a Junior but I don't know where he is going to college. When I talked to coach Henner it sounded like he did not have the grades, although I sure tried my best. Lots of talent coming out of the the North Star state, that is for sure.

Thanks for trying, hoyatrackalum. I tried to get a local runner Sean Zurko to GU last year (ran a 1:50 for TCU this year), but it sounded as if he didn't have the grades either.
Another middle distance Minny product, Carlson, is going to Notre Dame this coming fall.

Finnerty is going to Wisconsin. Looks like Minnesota also has a sub 1:50 800 runner as a junior this year. Maybe we can get him as a recruit for next year.
I'm curious to know if any of the freshman that we redshirted this yr will be able to help the team next yr--seems like we redshirted the whole recruiting class except for Taye.

The story on the track recruits is at guhoyas.cstv.com/sports/m-track/spec-rel/082108aab.html Apparently, we are the school for Columbia University runners after they graduate and have not finished their track eligibility. Also, a number of runners with Nigerian sounding names. One of the best recruits for the men is from Jamaica (I guess they couldn't get Usain Bolt, but they got a 1:50 type 800m runner).

Odosa is definitely Nigerian. My office mate says that it should be Adosa, as they are from the same tribe (Benin) in Nigeria.
Odosa Aghayere (Henrietta, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) was third indoors and ninth outdoors in the triple jump at the New York State Championships. He has personal bests of TJ (47-2.75), and LJ (19-3.50).

Nevada, is Melissa Grelli for sure going to Oregon? If not, the women might push for elite cross country status with the addition of Ballard and the freshman. Thanks for the info.

Sleepy, I think Melissa is going to Oregon. Some of the chatter on the track boards have an Oregon lineup with Melissa on the team. It will be strange to see her wearing the O for Oregon.

I am excited too, but no XC schedule has been put up yet, where most of the other fall sports schedules have been posted.
