SU 78 - GU 73 , OTsports.yahoo.com/ncaab/boxscore?gid=200501180553It was heartening to hear today that you are employed. I hope for your employer's sake your job does not entail setting the betting lines. You Hoya fans are priceless. Priceless. Prepare for a serious spanking tonight. The energy is high in the Cuse, Gmac and Warrick are on fire, and its high time for a reality check for all you guys. Cuse 88-62 It must be embarrassing for such a mighty basketball powerhouse to have to struggle through overtime to win a game like this on their home floor. Perhaps you're the one in need of a reality check.

i guess this isn't much of a rivalry game... the way that we got buried by the orange w/ our best player fouling out w/ four min left. Sure sounded like the Orange needed the refs to win this game

Speaking of the refs... how big does that contested 3 from Gerry Mac look now? They really did need the refs help to win.
But hey, this isnt a rivalry.

Look at the Syracuse shooting percentages and tell me you wouldn't have thought we'd be blown out if they shot the ball that well.

No first half let down. We played the #7 team in the country into OT on their home court. I'll take a moral victory against a top 10 team, I won't take one against ND this weekend. Let's get that win streak started on Saturday.

Guess we won't be hearing too much from cusefan79 or the guy who predicted a 10-point walk for the 'Cuse. Or, maybe because they're from SU, and thus slow to learn, they will be back.

Great to see the maturation of the team from the UConn game in the 1st half to this game. We played a complete game from start to finish, marred by some questionable refereeing (22 fouls?) and some bad misses at the stripe. But moral victories are completely fine over Top 10 teams. Think with a win against ND we wont have the voters talking about the Hoyas again? We definitely will. We were missed. We have returned. We will make them remember.

Agreed. I'll take a moral victory such as this one. On the road, top 10 team, yadda yadda yadda.
Played with guts and determination even after our arguably top (or at least second top guy) fouls out with 4 minutes left. We could have rolled over and didn't.
That string of 3 possessions with 0 pts down the stretch killed us, but we still forced the OT. A lot of positive to take from here, so I'm really encouraged.
Also, how about Warrick not really doing anything offensively after Green fouled out? I thought he would eat AKD alive and didn't really seem to from what I could hear on the radio. Gotta do the 'Dou sometimes.

JT3 seems to be showing some more faith in AKD lately - from the increased minutes in the last 2 games and his insertion in crunch time tonight - good for him. We could use some good, solid minutes from him every game, even if he is averaging 0.9 points per game.

It is amazing the difference a win or loss makes to ones mental outlook. I have been walking two feet high the past few days due to the wins. Now, even though they played Syracuse down to the wire and were in a position to win, it doesn't feel the same as a win, even over a lesser opponent. Sort of an empty feeling. So close and yet so far. The players probably feel the same, but they have nothing to be ashamed of. They continue to amaze, and I think they are finding that they can play with anybody. Congratulations to the team!

Ahem, ok I'll be the bigger man here. Great effort last night, your boys really took it too us, but in the end, our boys outlasted them.
Bowman can play, and that freshman (green?) will be a star.
So we didn't blow you out. But hey, a W is a W in Big East play, and the NCAA selection comittee doens't look at 'moral vicories.'
But all in all, great game, maybe you'll have a chance to settle the score in March at MSG.
Is that good enough for you, or should I sit back and wait for someone to call me dumb or some other derogitory name?

Kudos Cusefan. Great game to your squad as well. You escaped this time, but our boys got a taste of the juice and they are thirsty for victory. Thanks for the banter.

the NCAA selection comittee doens't look at 'moral vicories.' I always thought that if a team was on the bubble, so called moral victories were taken into account. That, of course, was only if there weren't too many and the team was right on the edge. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I heard it on ESPN (though that might be my problem) Ahem, ok I'll be the bigger man here. Maaan-I wanted some trash talking. Since when is being a college bball fan about being the bigger man?

as much as I talk trash about cuse, and the line "how do i keep warm when in upstate new york? by Editeding on Manly Field House then wiping my ass with the syracuse acceptance letter" that I read on the board yesterday had me laughing all the way home from work last night ... cuse & Pitt fans are the only fans from another school who I can carry on a conversation with at the BET each year. At the other end of the spectrum are USUCK fans who cant string a sentence together without spilling their beer on themselves or hurling some racial epitaph , Johnie fans who - oh wait there are no johnie fans at the BET- and Nova fans, dont get me started on them. so respect to the cuse fan for coming back here today, of course i dont know if he would have come back if we had won.
