my friend sent me this email ...
p.s. are the rumors true that Michael Jordan Jr. has verbally committed to Georgetown? They had a segment on the Fox 5 news two nights ago in which they showed him dunking at the high school all-star game and said that he will be a valuable asset to Georgetown's recruiting class.
I don't think MJ has a son named MJ2, but are there any rumors that Jeffrey (a rising freshman) is coming to GU? I heard he's not good anyway.

This one is going to Ill, but I believe he has another son who may be a soph who is considered much better.
I heard he was a high D-1 recruit and more in the athletic mold of pops.

He isnt rated well enough for a scholarship for a high major but I think he'll surprise alot of people.
Some probably said Jon Wallace wasnt good enough for a scholarship either 3 years ago...

I really don't understand Jeffrey Jordan's lack of a major offer. 1) He held his own at the Jordan Classic. 2) By all accounts, he's a really nice kid and a hard worker, not a spoiled rich kid. 3) The difference between most high major guards and mid-major guards is often very minimal. See VCU versus Duke. 4) If you're going to take a chance that someone is a late bloomer/hard worker, why not Michael Jordan's kid? I can't believe not even one BCS conference school wants him. My guess? Jordan the elder is scaring coaches off. I think coaches don't want to deal with the possible scenario that Jeffrey doesn't develop quickly or at all and gets no PT. Michael will be vocal and no one wants to deal with that for a player they view as developmental.

The article says "Georgetown athletic spokesman Mike Carey says only one walk-on has made the team in the last two years." Who walked on in the past two years?

maybee, that's what everyone is assuming right now. Interestingly enough, he was considering GW for a while and for all I know they might still have an outside shot at getting him. I would put the chances of him coming here at around .005% EDIT: or 0% www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/cs-070426jordan,1,3801112.story?coll=chi-sportstop-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true He's going to U of I, this should be a fun summer for me

the only game i saw with him was a regular season game against eric gordons team and he was beyond bad. if this kids last name wasn't jordan, he wouldn't even be a walk-on level player.

People like you would probably look at someone like DaJuan Summers game against O St. and say "He's beyond bad, why is he at Georgetown"

Michael Jordan screwed us in the Superdome and kept Patrick from winning a title with the Knicks. This being a HOYA board I'm glad his son isn't good enough to get a schollie and I hope he rots on the bench while his dad plays golf, gambles, ruins NBA franchises, and tries to score white broads.
Please avoid any future comments about "scoring" that has been taken by readers as being offensive. Georgetown alumni are held to a higher standard to avoid this kind of nonsense--Admin

Too much MJ hating going on. I'll admit I'm biased because I grew up in Chicago during the Jordan era but should we as a community hate him from keeping Pat from winning a title? Moreover even if should this transfer over to his son, who probably has a hard time living in his dad's shadow and going through his parents' messy divorce? Come on its a kid, and although I hate Illinois with a passion I don't want the kid to fail.

Jordan didn't prevent Patrick from an NBA ring--the Knicks front office did with refusing to get the proper talent around an elite Center--ala the Rockets--who might not have had the "seeding" but had the type of players/shot makers that you need if you have a big time post presence. Starks, Anthony, an old Derek Harper, Rolando Blackman past his prime, and Doc were not the answer--heck they thought Gerald Wilkins was for a while and wasted a pick on Kenny Walker----Anthony Mason was CBA level talent as well--but it was "Force basketball" and just good enough to lose to Bulls-in close but no cigar fashion that NBA loved so "Superman" could have his legend grow even larger.

Forgive me if I shed no tears for poor Jeff Jordan and his "tough" life of growing up in MJ's shadow. I love Patrick Ewing and Georgetown basketball so for me hating MJ is appropriate and the right thing to do. Patrick was the ultimate basketball warrior and Jordan's greatness and referee aided dominance stopped one of my all time favorite professional athletes from getting a title in the NBA.
