So, it's Mario Williams to the Texans for the first pick.
What happens at #2? Do the Saints take Bush or do they trade the pick to the Jets or Titans?
UPDATE: Looks like the Saints are going for Bush.

As expected, Williams goes 1st to the Texans with a cacophony of boos from the NY crowd.
UPDATE: The "overrated" chant never sounded more idiotic.

Agree on the overrated chant.
So far, I think every pick has been good for the team (although passing on Bush for perhaps the next Courtney Brown... we'll see).

Cutler (and Whitehurst) are really dropping now because of Leinart.

Torry Holt was supposedly lobbying the Rams to take Tye Hill from some of the articles. I was hoping for that, but the trade killed it.

With the first pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the 0-16 Buffalo Bills select... Brady Quinn.

Matt Millen continues to sabotage the Lions--Ernie Sims is a BUST waiting to happen. 6 concussions, arrests and off the field issues, and anyone knows he was going to tear up the combine and workouts. Looks like Tarzan, plays like JANE--total garbage pick.

Yeah, that question about "Why Vanderbilt?" to Cutler knocked Suzy Kolber down a few notches IMO.

Through 70 picks here are my grades: Philadelphia Eagles: A+ - got maybe the best DT in the draft in Bunkley, then maybe the second-best OT in Justice...off-field issues be damned, I was happy with that pick. Besides, if one team can straighten out a guy with off-field issues, it's the Eagles, right? (Everyone else) Houston Texans: F---- - Ridiculous waste of the first draft pick. First rule of the NFL Draft: You do not pass on a talent like Reggie Bush. Second rule of the NFL Draft: You do NOT...PASS...ON REGGIE BUSH! This, Houston, is why you are 4-12 every year.

Eagles get an A+---agree with your take Joe Dallas Cowboys get a F----- that was some of the worst work I've EVER seen done on a Draft Day. Terrible job and the overrated and grumpy Parcells will have plenty of time to Edited and moan--it's almost like he hates talent/speed and he looks for slow, oft injured guys who don't make plays but "give the old college try".

On the one hand, I'm happy with the guys my Bills got. Plugged serious holes at DT and S, and even got a 2nd round talent in the 3rd round with Youboty.
On the other hand, I think they gave up a pick (one of their 3rd rounders) unnecessarily and could have stayed where they were at #42 and still gotten McCargo, while keeping that second third round pick.
Also, there were allegedly trade offers to move out of #8, pick up a THIRD third rounder and stay in the mid- to low-teens. If that's true, I may have done it simply because there was some depth where they need help... but you can't count on certain guys falling that far, and if they think Whitner is the star at safety they need, I'm glad they got 'em.
Now let's see if Marv can still evaluate talent...

I was hoping the Ravens would get Whitehurst so I'd have a reason to actually pull for them. I'm happy for Tye Hill (3rd DB the Rams have gotten from Clemson in the past 12 years or so - McLeon and Sapp were the others I think.)
I'm wondering whether the Chargers expect Whitehurst to supplant Feeley at some point as Rivers' back-up or if they think he might even push Rivers some. Don't put too much stock into his senior year.... he was hurt from the BC game through the bowl game and learning a new offense. I think the QB coach at SD could help him develop nicely.

Terrible job and the overrated and grumpy Parcells will have plenty of time to Edited and moan--it's almost like he hates talent/speed and he looks for slow, oft injured guys who don't make plays but "give the old college try". Carpenter was probably the worst pick of the bunch on Day 1 for Dallas, though I don't know anything about Jason Hatcher. The Cowboys have been drafting defense for the past five years, and keep making the same mistakes (with the exception of Roy Williams). It's okay to draft "projects" or "risks" at offensive skill positions because of the potential rewards, but drafting players with those labels on defense rarely works out. Agree the Eagles had a great draft (how two SC O-linemen dropped to the second round baffles me). Thought the 'Niners had a good day today, too. New England did a good job IF Maroney can run inside in the NFL. Thought the Jets were primed for a good day, drafting great O-line talent in the first round, until they tanked with questionable 2nd & 3rd round picks. My Bears had a pretty average day, drafting a couple of question marks in rounds 1 & 2 (BTW, RDF I expected a rant on how Larry Coker killed Hester's first-round chances). Texans were the big losers today. If you want help on defense, why not trade down, pick up some value or an extra pick, and get a quality player like AJ Hawk or Kamerion Wimbley? Mario Williams is no franchise savior. DeMeco Ryans seems like somewhat of a risk to me. Charles Spencer was drafted solely based on his performance at the combine, which is usually a mistake. Eric Winston in the third round may have been the only good pick the Texans made all day. Houston is going to continue to be a sorry franchise for a while -- watch them blow it in the draft with a high pick next year, too.

Mike O'Cain is an idiot is what my personal thoughts about it were - especially in what became known as the stand-around, fart-around offense while you check with the sidelines for the play and make your linemen stay in their stance for a long time. That version of the no-huddle offense was a total perversion of the Indy 500 that Rodriguez used when he was OC.
