With the deadline to declare for the NBA draft four short days away and not even a hint that any of the guys might be considering leaving early, it is looking fairly certain that Noah, Horford and Brewer will all return to Florida, virtually guaranteeing a consensus preseason #1 ranking for the defending Champion Florida Gators. Florida only lost backup center Adrian Moss to graduation. The loss of Moss will be more than made up for with the addition of redshirt Freshman Jimmie Sutton. Sutton was forced to sit out this past season due to injuries but is expected to step right in and backup the bigs. Florida also has an incoming Freshman class of four talented youngsters, including 2 Mr. Basketball finalists from there respective states. One recruit earned the honor in the highly competitive state of New York, while another individual finished second for the honor here in the Sunshine State. Obviously talk of a perfect season are premature at best, but expectations of a great year and a top seed going into the NCAAs are very realistic.

We don't care. This is the Georgetown board. Mods -- please show this thread the same level of respect that UF players showed UCLA and the NCAA tournament, in general. In other words, none, so please make it go away.

Sounds like a press release from the UF SID's office! Of course most of it is true - but hmmm, how long has it been since a team repeated? hard to keep that hunger after you've won it all, and some of your guys are more worried about improving their draft positions than the record!! ;D

In other words, none, so please make it go away. Don't forget about the respect that they showed to the White House and the presidency with the shirt tails untucked and Noah showing up with two unidentified women. I'm not a big fan of Bush (Easyed - you might have missed this in our conversations) but I am a big fan of the office - to not show some respect and professionalism was a disgrace.

In other words, none, so please make it go away. Seriously. If we're going to dump threads about a former Hoya and his current coaching job to another page, at the very least this one should be sent there as well. Best case scenario, its deleted entirely. This ain't GatorTalk. Its HoyaTalk. But to be fair, fellas, hifigator apparently isn't bright enough to figure out the fact there are several other pages for non-Hoya basketball threads, even after a month of brainless posts about his man-crush on Noah, his friends nobody cares about, and his desire to dictate the terms of discussion on the board. So cut him some slack... reading is hard.

UF WILL be the overwhelming favorite next year - just like Duke and UConn were this year. But you don't win the title in a magazine in October/November - you win it on the court in April.

Of course most of it is true - but hmmm, how long has it been since a team repeated? hard to keep that hunger after you've won it all, and some of your guys are more worried about improving their draft positions than the record!! ;D I intentionally wrote it that way but in all seriousness, you make an excellent point about the hunger. Everyone always talks about playing with the big target on your chest. I agree that that can happen in reverse, that is to say that a "bad" team with little or no tradition is in a better situation to pull off an upset because they might not get the full attention or best effort and focus from a high ranked team. But I never thought much of it happening the other way. If someone comes in ranked #1, #2 or #3 I don't think it matters very much to the opponent. A high ranked team is a high ranked team. In other words, had we lost to UCLA and been National Runner Up, I don't think teams would be looking past us in any sort next year. So the fact that we are defending champs shouldn't add much to our opponents efforts ... at least not any more than they will give any other high ranked team. Now I will say this. Sometimes there is a permanent focus on a "traditional power." The Dukes and Kentuckys of the world are going to be the "circled" games for almost all on their schedule. Even in a "down" year like last year for Kentucky, most of their opponents will be keyed up to face the wildcats. Hopefully in another year or so, we can achieve that type of elite and prestigious status, but we aren't there yet. Now you also said this part: some of your guys are more worried about improving their draft positions than the record!!That could certainly happen, but there is zero evidence that it has yet. These guys have given absolutely no indication that there is any of this sort of attitude in their minds, but I admit that that is certainly a concern.

Please move this thread to its proper forum and give Hifigator a final enforceable warning that he is banned the next time he posts about his Aunt Edna or the Swampthings in the HoyaTalk Georgetown basketball forum. We don't care. Every one of his threads since the Georgetown-Florida game has been off-topic.
EdStimes was banned for far less.

I'll do the honors so the thread gets moved:
Craig Esherick could have been here for 30 years if GU built an on-campus arena. Discuss.

Florida should be good...
Can't give them consensus #1...
After they played G'Town, they just ran into teams that just didn't match-up well against the Gators...and none of the Big Boys showed up for the show...(no no. 1 seeds...)
They just beat the best of the rest...
Florida will be hard-pressed to win their conference next season...that's not a slight, just a compliment to the strength of the upper-tier teams in the SEC...
G'town is losing a lot of experience, but I think our front-court will compensate for the early season struggles of the back-court...

I know for a fact that the entire team will transfer but Reynolds will commit and be joined by Matt Causey. Joakim Noah tried to transfer but his application was returned wet and salty and all GU offcials laughed at the futile attempt.

I will help veer this thread further off topic by noting that Tim Van Patten, the actor who played Salami on The White Shadow will be appearing in the Sopranos next week as a character called "Johnny Cakes."

A few classics from the pinnacle of objective, professional reporting - baselinejournal.com:
"I never thought i would wake up and not hear JJ’s name on tv. He will get crushed on the NBA Level. LSU had the squad that took down the team america craved for. Now we can focus on the good games that are left. Im hoping West Virginia gets knocked out."
"Seem like we got ourselves a triple threat. Funny thing is no name begins with Maryland. Who would have thought in all these years we have teams with George in the NCAA. Yes and they all won the first round game. Maryland couldn’t even win the NIT first round. You tell me i can’t get creds to cover your team and look at karma now. Doug Dull from UMD denied me countless times because he thought i wanted to come to cover the big games. HA HA HA , that what i signed in my email to him. The joke is on you. Funny thing is I cover NBA,FIBA and he want’s to call UMD a big game. Get a life, maybe get a good pr job with the George’s. But that’s life when your thinking and living in the past."
"This site is racist................"
"Most of you guys are some groupies...I never been to a site with the wackest people who wish they can play basketball. Half of you are white and can't play and just wish you was on Gtown's Team. Im gonna do a story about the dumbiest site for Georgetown. This site should be banned for it's stupid post and just dumb members....Im gonna see that gtown closes this site down for good.........It makes fun of blacks and calls them Editeds....I don't want any part of a site that calls players Editeds..."
"Say what you want but i don't go on boards talking trash.........You probably white right...."
"As a sports writer, i take things in a professional manner, but when you talking about a personal friend. I don't hold anything. So im gonna keep it real and street on this board. Yeah i went to gtown and i do work with the current team. And it's no backdoor here.. It's about smarts and brains and the right connections.....And to the person with the other statement on the real. Don't let me find out who you are...What you said is something you would get punched for without question. So i hope you don't go to the school. If i want to find you i will without question. And consider me punching you in your mouth priceless......"
"Yeah Rudy my Buddy.....been knowing him for almost 3 years. And i know what road he took.....So i gonna back up a homie. So talk all you want. And if it's a jock somebody on it's gotta be gtown. I went to gtown but face the truth gtown not all that. Uconn is a way better team. I even give cincy props. Gtown gotta mature before good things happen."
"Ill say it again...None of you guys or so called critics can say that to his face. None of you will be in the league or dare step on the floor to say he stinks. If he stinks why did he get recruited by a top school. Don't think Georgetown is the hype everbody thinks it is........"
"You guys kill me Rudy Gay got game and i bet none of you can match up against him in the paint.....So talk all you want none of you can see him face to face...."
The NERVE of baselinejournal!!! How dare he come on OUR board and claim he's a SPORTS WRITER!!!

Guys, the dude is annoying - but I actually take it as a compliment that he keeps trolling our site. He knows very well---just like the rest of the Gators---that we were up on them with a minute to go; had the ball and a good look at the basket, but we missed the layup. If Ewing was taking that shot--he POUNDS IT on Noah's face!! Plus, MR. GREEN had to sit for a long time because of at least two questionable calls. This troll knows that they escaped that night very luckily, and that the HOYAS would LOVE another CRACK at them ASAP. So he's here trying to convince us (and MOSTLY himself) that we should "fear the gator"..... HA!!! You'll be really good---but WE WANT YOU BAD NEXT TIME!!! I see us walking away with ALOT of new accessory items from the gator skin we peel off your boys... NOW..... BE GONE FOREVER---or we bring out the HOLY WATER!!!

I guess it should be in the College/Pro teams. But don't act like I have somehow committed the unpardonable sin. Just at quick glance thread topics on this board included who is going to coach at NC St. and a Maryland transfer going to GW. Yes, those are basketball topics but not directly Hoya topics. Still, I will try to make a point of posting on the appropriate boards. But deed down inside, I don't think that the real reason you are so agitated is because the topic isn't directly related to the Hoyas. Just a hunch ...
