sports.espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs04/news/story?id=1987299He was sick during the previous week, so it wasn't dehydration. I'm not knocking Brady, but there's a big difference between having a high fever the night before a game and vomiting on the field (which McNabb did in 2002, and nearly did on Sunday night). Actually, this episode and at least 2 of the Eagles starters (Kearse and somebody else) went out with cramps... which, combined with McNabb's end game condition, brings into question the team's overall conditioning. Don't recall any of the Pats having a similar problem (although of course I could be wrong), but such a difference is a major advantage, especially in the endgame.

www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/10850676.htmDiscusses the issue a little more. A concussion is a possible explanation. In reference to the Pats, I saw Corey Dillon doing quite a bit of grimacing in the second half...looked very similar to the expressions Pinkston was making with his cramps. Dunno if he was cramping up or if he took a hit. I believe Kearse took a hit on the hip, which is what made him miss some time (at least, the play he went out on upon replay showed him getting hit in the hip). I guess that explains the slowest hurry-up offense in NFL history...you can't hurry up when the quarterback is throwin' up.

It's an explanation, but definately not an excuse. If the problem was cramps, then that's McNabb's own fault and something he should have been able to prevent. It it's a concussion, well, that sucks, but injuries happen, even to the Patriots (they lost their starting CB, Wilson? whose replacement the Eagles then promptly began to abuse)

Big time discussion on sports radio here in Boston this AM as to whether Reid should have pulled McNabb out if he was having so much trouble... I'd say not, but if you have to have Freddie Big Time calling the plays instead of your quarterback, it's a problem.

What this story lacks in merit it makes up for in its suspicious similarity to Coach K's fainting episode.

The man finished a game on a broken leg...even scored a rushing touchdown on that leg...and he can't handle dehydration. Sounds like revisionist history. Excuses. Excuses.
Like the guy in pickup who get's stripped clean and then goes down holding his ankle.

I assume you're being a jack- er, jerk, again, but I'll bite. Again.
Nobody is saying McNabb couldn't handle the condition he was in. He tried to call the play at the line, couldn't do it, and so they huddled up to get it together. There's no way he comes out of the game, and he isn't using this as an excuse. Neither is anyone else. There was discussion on it, so I posted the link, because someobody posted that he was dehydrated and that might not be the case. He's my boy, and I'm the only one here who has his back, so I'm just doing my job.
And TBird, I'm beginning to doubt that you even watched the game. When Wilson went out (he's a safety), they brought in rookie Dexter Reid. Reid was AWFUL. However, the Eagles did NOT abuse him - they went after him a grand total of ONCE - the result was a 30-yard touchdown pass that came about two minutes later than it should have (and now we have some idea as to why it took so long). If the Eagles had gone after Reid, we'd be having a different discussion right now, probably one about how New England needs to shore up its secondary since these guys did such a crappy job. But they didn't, so we aren't.
Oh wait, we're talking "ifs" again...don't wanna upset FL and THB anymore, so I guess I'll just sit here and read what people post and quietly question if they even were paying attention to the game.

You know I'm can hear a little of myself in you...
I remember making these same arguments after any number of the numerous and totally unconscionable Red Sox collapses...
I only poke and prod out of a malicious and perhaps sadistic fascination with hearing those rationalisations and self-delusions from the other end.
Joe Hoya you are a true fan. It is a tough road to hoe at the losing end of a game like that. Season are long and when you come up short, it's always bitter. Philly deserves a win, they love their sports more than just about any city and have rarely been rewarded.
That being said...the Eagles suck! Pats rule!!! ;D

Ummm Let's back off this he was throwing up thing- because McNabb totally denies this was the case on the Wed night Sportscenter. He is being a stand up guy and not fallling into a ready-made excuse, but this secondhand hearsay that he "almost threw up" now means just about nothing in light of the fact that I just saw the man himself completely deny there was anything physically wrong with him. I like the guy- its hard not to, but he blew it and so did Reid. The Pats too had chances to blow it but they didn't. The Eagles lost, the Pats WON. PERIOD.

Most of the stuff going on now is due to FredEx (in his eyes at least) not having gotten enough attention during the game and afterwards.
