DONT BUMP THIS IT IS BBALL ADN SPECIFICALLY GU BBALL RELATED.. it was announced that the ventures were elected to the rock and roll hall of fame and why is that gu bball related .. one of their biggest hits was HAWAII FIVE O YUP jt3 has personally requested the band play that and they are this year and he requested the a large stuent to become shirtless and do the dance . .that hasnot happened yet so come on blue on of you should be dancing to the rock and roll hall of fame members ventures big hit and hoya standard cant you find a student who is wiling to go national and show of his STUFF and make his parents proud like inthe old days.. ps this was forwarded to me by former hoya hoop club president who shall remain anon.. but hes looking out for jt3s request yup go hoyas dance the hall of fame dance and BEAT RADFORD DONT FORGET THEY BEAT GARDNER WEBB YOU KNOW COME OUT STRONG NOT LIKE THE TWERPS VS. The R&R HOF has long since jumped the shark in its quest to select "relevant" nominees.
Joining the Ventures, Dave Clark Five, and John Mellencamp are two acts with zero R&R cred . Madonna (nee Ciccone) is a pop performer, not a rocker, while I had never even heard of Leonard Cohen. Wikipedia refers to him as a "Canadian singer-songwriter, poet and novelist" who has made one public appearance since 1993. So much for the "fame" portion of the award.

Really man, never heard of Leonard Cohen?
Guy is pretty much a legend in the singer-songwriter community. "Hallelujah" has been covered by about 75 other musicians. True he is not a rock god, but he is definitely one of the most influential musicians of the past half century. And if you want to complain about Madonna's inclusion you can't then turn around and complain about someone just because they aren't famous.

On an unrelated note, when the UMCP board was posted the other day after their loss to Ohio, anyone else notice some of the post counts over there? I saw at least a couple posters with over 25,000 and one with over 35,000!!  Good God! And we thought WE wasted time on Hoyatalk. I guess there really IS nothing to do in College Park. Yeesh, get a dog or something. 35,000, that's just ridiculous. (speaking of which, what's hifi at these days, about 15K or so?) |
