"Kneel BEFORE Zod." Seems awfully silly to stereotype entire organizations, nations, and individuals that are members of a larger community, because of what some individuals do, or even for what a majority of the individuals in that group believe. I'd hate to be instantly judged by the rest of the world because of the actions of some of our leaders. And that's Republican and Democrat alike. But hey, if you want to use broad generalizations and simplistic reasoning win over the masses and pay your bills, so be it. Just recognize that many of us received a true liberal arts education that allows us to see the infinite shades of grey behind any issue. If you're going to come into our house, you should respect that, or find your way to the door. So what you're saying, we shouldn't judge all citizens of the planet Krypton based on the actions of either Zod or Superman, but rather on their own actions? As we have talked about before, they are both cold-blooded killers.

This is the Chris Webber of threads! So much potential..So little delivery.
YB, I hear that this Al-Waleed bin Talal has a safe house in Spotsylvania! I heard that he has been seeing those "super" Chili's Steakhouse commercials and figured that Spotsylvania would be a great place for a safe house....Very near several Chili's
In case one is crowded, of course!

Good points, VE.
But, of course, he has a "safe house" in Spotsylvania. He was forced to move out of his unsafe house in the city, what with all of the crime and corruption.
I, for one, was bummed that GU rejected the good prince's other potential donation -- to establish the Darwin-Daniels Chair in the fledgling Evolution of Ballroom Dancing Studies Program.

But we already have that department--it's called American Studies!!! (I love my former major :-D !)

As for his "peddling hate" ... is that what you call pointing out cold hard facts? Don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message. HIFI--I urge you to learn more about the facts before jumping into the fray. Bill has a grudge against Georgetown and has gone out of his way to leap to conclusions about our community; a community he knows nothing about. Yup, he's a real Evel Knievel in the leaps he likes to make. Feel free to go through the past posts on this board, visit the Georgetown website and Google articles by Bill Levinson to learn more. Regarding "cold hard facts" ... did I miss something? But when did an op-ed piece become the centerpiece to journalism or factual reporting? By its very nature aren't they just a person's opinion? In fact, doesn't the definition even say that they are "signed articles expressing personal viewpoints." Look you can take the op-ed how ever you want, the underlying problem is Bill's incessant effort to make something out of nothing when it comes to Georgetown and Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal. I made no attempt to comment on issues from the past, and as you suggest it would be silly and foolish to do so. What I said was that it looks like his point was that there is a hint suggesting that the Saudi Arabia of now is radically different from the past and that specifically there is a strong movement towards tolerance of the west, specifically of Israel and America. And that secondly that is not really the case. If that was his point then I think he made a solid argument, not to say that you couldn't find evidence to the contrary. You seem to suggest that his point was otherwise, specifically regurgitating an issue from the past. If so then again I am not in a postion to give an informed opinion as I was not privy to that discussion. All I had to go on was the posts in front of me. Sorry for the conclusion. I certainly neither now nor ever intend to give my blanket support for someone's opinion when I don't even know what it is.

I guess it fundametally gets down to this. You made a comment based on what he said here and what he said before. I responded with essentially "he didn't say that." You came back with "he has before." So I guess we are both right in that regard.

It's much easier that way.
