WOW! First Big East game, first win First Big East road game, first win First game vs. a top 15 opponent, first win
What a way to start. This guy deserves ALL the credit. Hoyas were picked to finish next to last in the BE by our fellow BE Coaches.
Truly remarkable.
And our upperclassmen came up VERY big and won the game for us.
Congratulation to the Coaches and the TEAM for a great team effort, and for not folding after losing a big lead on the road.
WOW!!!!
It is a NEW era for Georgetown hoops. And this won't hurt recruiting one bit.
Have a great evening everyone!

something tells me the "UCONN Predictions" thread is gonna have quite a different tone. Speaking of having something where the sun doesn't shine, Calhoun is gonna be STEAMED after losing his last game against Benedict Arnold College AT HOME tonight.

Many congratulations to Coach Thompson and the team. A road win, in conference, in the first BE game of the year, starting 3 freshman, against a high quality opponent is a terrific accomplishment. I took a great deal of comfort during the game with Coach T on the sidelines. Let's keep it going.

UCONN is next. I have a feeling we can get it done against them as they are as young as we are and hopefully will face a difficult MCI crowd. Let's represent!

Any road win in the BE is a great win. I would venture to predict that Pitt's days in the top 25 are numbered, however. And their string of sweet sixteens is also in a bit of danger.

First game vs. a top 15 opponent, first win Not to be a downer, but last time I checked the Hoyas already played a top 15 team, well, actually a top 10, wait no, a top 5, oh wait, actually, #1 Illinois. Anyway, SirSaxa, still a great post, and congrats to the team, and to JT3!!! And, yeah, I started jumping around in the bar when I say the score go by on the ticker-definately had to check twice before I believed my eyes (and this was after only 2 beers!)

It has been a difficult morning. . . I can't seem to come up with the best movie line for this.
Well, he's a Hollywood liberal weenie, but it was also one of the best characters in movie history, so I guess I'll go with this one:
"AWESOME! TOTALLY AWESOME! ! ALL-RIGHT HAMILTON...err, GEORGETOWN! ! !"
Couple of comments:
--Matt Doherty: complete toadstool. However, I have to say, I was nodding my head a lot toward the end of the game when Doherty kept saying to the young Hoyas, "Trust the offense, trust the offense." That was dead on (and my guess is JTIII was saying the exact same thing, given Brandon's post-game comment). And I liked his analysis of the difficulty of defending against the handoff. That was good stuff.
--Brett Haber: complete toadstool. No, I have nothing redeeming to say about him (except, it appears that he enjoys playing in the snow with his son).
--Memo to smizik: Bite me!
--Was lucky enough to get a call from a friend last night during the game who had just had a baby boy. I find it highly appropriate that immediately after breaking the news, he asked how the Hoyas were playing. I'm suggesting Ashanti as a good Irish name for the lad.
--Darrel Owens: he may not be as aggressive or make as many plays as I think he can, but every play he did make last night was a clutch one. Keep it up, DJ. Those 3s, his last basket and the offensive board were cash money!
--I had forgotten what this feels like. It's pretty nice.

I agree with the forgot what it feels like comment. I was with 3 other members of the board in a living room watching the game in complete amazement. To see a coach make ALL the right moves and to stay calm was just a pleasure. Every time we just looked at each other and said things like...good timeout...just run the offense...listen to coach. What an amazing feeling.
Jumping up and down in the living room was the best moment I've had as a Hoya fan since...since well...I honestly can't remember. Maybe when we made the Final 8 in Atlanta during my junior year.

As everyone else has done, I wanted to add my congratulations to the coaches and the players. It was amazing to watch, especially considering in the last 6 years we were always on the other end of games like this.

wonderful!! Lets remember they are a young team that only played 6 players and others will get our front court in foul trouble. Lets just not go south on them after they lose 2 in a row. From where we have been, the NIT will be a nice start this yearfor III

I found myself out last night at a bar with 3 co-workers from UNC, 2 from Maryland, and 2 from Duke - I was the only Hoya there, and listened to them talk to each other about how good they all are. Rashad McCants this, JJ Reddick that, and I had no response, except "we're getting better, give us 2 years"...
And then our Hoyas come through with our biggest victory in 2 years.
Goddamn was it sweet.
