WTF? Seems like there will be no easy games in the Big East for us this year... actually it just proves that there is one less "giant" in the acc...i cant wait until we get all that talk about 8 acc schools making the ncaa tournament...garbage

I agree with KG-I think this says more about the ACC and NC State then it does about the Big East or St. John's. Maybe the NC State coach has been talking to Esherick about strategies for motivating his players for games against horrible teams.

Looking at the picture, seems like Sendek was doing the "Macarena" instead of coaching last night

I think sometimes people get caught in the hype of the ACC being the top conference in the country every year, when it is clearly not the case. NC state is a good team, not a great team. Losing to St. Johns is not shocking. The ACC is a great conference, but it is not the # 1 conference. It is the most liked by the media, but we all know who the last 2 NCAA championship teams were don't we, Big East teams. In fact, didn't UCONN beat 2 teams in the Final Four, who were, my gosh, ACC teams, to win the title. And oh yeah, I guess N.C. State is doing great job in making Tony Bethel a better player, since his, eh, numbers and minutes are much higher than they were at G'Town.

NC state is a good team, not a great team. Losing to St. Johns is not shocking. T Excuse me??? "Not shocking" ? SJU was predicted to be the absolute WORST team in the BE. They have already lost to Hofstra Illinois St. Niagra, and St. Francis!! Their second leading scorer was suspended for this game. NC State was ranked in the Top 15! Even allowing for NCS being overrated, there is no way the outcome of this game was "not shocking"

West Virginia beat NC State today 82-69. What's happened to the great ACC?

Don't konw about the ACC but NC State Can't be having trouble because they have "America's best backcourt." Hodge didn't play today but TB held up his end of the deal with a stellar 0 points and 3 assists in 21 minutes. That's 2 losses in a row - I guess it's alright for them to start chasing off recruits now - things look like they're headed down hill.

West Virginia beat NC State today 82-69. What's happened to the great ACC? What happens with West Virginia will be interesting also. Prior to this week, they were 8-0 against a nothing special schedule. But they beat two ranked teams--NC State today and GW earlier in the week--so they figure to get some notice from a few pollsters. I never understand West Virginia--their coach gets all this love, they supposedly have all those sneaky underrated guys in their "system". It's like they've been the Big East "sleeper" team every year since Coach Beilein got there and they never do anything special, save an upset or two in the non-conference sked every winter.

Is there any good reason that NC State is ranked and BC is not? I'm not a fan of those traitors up in Mass, but really, this is ridiculous.

My guess is when the rankings come out today that Boston College will be ranked and NC State will not be.
As for why BC wasn't ranked a week ago, I'm sure a lot of voters have been waiting for them to prove themselves. They weren't supposed to be a top 25 team coming into the year, and they haven't beaten anybody of significance in their first nine games. On the other hand, they allowed Yale to take them to double OT and Holy Cross to come within 3.
Their top 25 ranking this week will be the result of easy scheduling and not them having proved their worth. If they can beat Connecticut they deserve to stay. If they don't then out they'll go.

Not to nitpick but hasn't BC had the top RPI all season? What did they have to do?

Beat Yale convinclingly. Beat Holy Cross convincingly. Schedule at least one major conference team that will finish in the top half of their conference and play them tough.

No, I agree with your assessment, and I dislike BC immensely, but my question was more to do with the fact that at least according to RPI (having been top 5 all season) and their undefeated status they should have been ranked anyways...if there is any logic to early season rankings.

Thankfully there's a tournament at the end of the season to decide who's better than who. Best form of championship in existence.
