I am hearing a lot of rumors about Hollis Thompson making an announcement that he is coming to the hilltop. Anybody know anything about this?

That would be great if he chose to come to Georgetown. Seems like his game is a perfect fit -- and he's very good academically as well.

Is the fact that his AAU team is Nike squad that big of an influence? I know shoe companies are a huge influence in hoops but in this specific instance - whats the deal?

Shoe influence is generally completely overrated and in many cases is just the excuse the losers use. I guess a lot depends on how much a role the AAU coach plays and how much he is willing to be influenced. In Thompson's case, I'm guessing academics, fit with the coaching staff, etc. has a lot more to do with it than shoes. And in the Duke case, I think Elliott Williams' commitment may have played a role.

Kyle Singler played for Portland Legends AAU last few years. They are Nike. He went to Duke. Eric Gordon played for Meanstreets last summer. They are Nike. Indiana is an "Adidas school". He went to IU

Could one of our recruiting gurus spare a little information about Hollis?

In the same article concerning Hollis the writer also pretty much suggests Duke won't get involved with Deshonte Riley because word is he is a Gtown lean.

Gtown has been recruiting Hollis for a longtime. He made 2 unofficial visits to GU (his FS year and this MM), and he dropped dook a few weeks ago. The dook fans can spin it like Elliott Williams had something to do with it, but Hollis cooled on dook a long time ago. dook wanted Hollis to take a visit to dooks blue and white game a couple of weeks ago, but he declined. The truth is, Hollis viewed dook just like Monroe viewed dook. dook should not try to go head to head with GTOWN for recruits.
The shoe thing is not very relevant with Hollis. He already has family that has attended GU, and he and JT3 are tight. Plus his skill set fits perfectly in the GU system. He still needs to get stronger and improve his ball handling(creating his own shot). But the kid will be a special player on the Hilltop. Riley also.

Well nothing is a done deal in recruiting until they sign the line, but we should all know more once this years class has signed.

To quote a favorite movie of mine "... You're wanting and you can't play in the man's game - you can't close them, then go home and tell your wife your troubles. Because only one thing counts in this life - get them to sign on the line which is dotted."
JT3 gets coffee because he's a closer. Rick Pitino can get the set of steak knives. Coach K can hit the bricks.

Balla, I don't know who you are but I sure like reading this post! I hope you are right -- and on both counts. IF Hollis is tight with JT3, I'd say we are in. Thanks for the info and updates.
