A pre-game hoya bar needs to be established near MCI! I went to Fado for a beer and it was about 99% Illini fans. I am sick of this. I want a place that will offer drink specials to all those wearing hoya gear and will charge double to anyone wearing the opposing teams stuff!
This is our home court. If we are going to be outmanned in our own arena, then our fans need some pre-game drinks in a hoya environment so we can out yell our opponents. Who is with me?
Don't get me started on the ND games and Fado. I officially am protesting that establishment. Who knows a viable bar (or chinese restaurant) that will house us?

How about the Irish Channel in the Red Roof Inn?

It should be Clyde's when the new one opens!

I was thinking Tony Cheng's or one of the other fine chinese restaurant/bars. I would like to support the places that have been there for the long haul. Chinese beer for everyone!

Why is it that Fado ALWAYS seems packed with opposing teams' fans when the Hoyas play? I haven't been to an MCI game where Fado WASN'T crawling with Orangemen/Domers/Cavaliers/Illini/whomever-is-visiting-MCI. Not that I've been to a game in a while, but it seemed awful consistent the last few seasons . . .

Fado is big, and has been there the longest, so it's an easy target for the out-of-towners to meet up. I think we should take over Coyote Ugly....

Fado's is also a chain, like Coyote Ugly. If folks are real out of towners, the familiarity appeals, kind of like how people actually go to McDonald's in Europe.

Irish Channel NOT a chain:
The Stack Brothers Didn't Just Choose a Pub - They Grew Up In One Stack's Pub, Charleville Co. Cork
For some, opening a restaurant is a lark. For others, a dream. For the Stacks, it's a family tradition. Tom and Garry Stack, along with their brother Mort and sister Norah, grew up over Stack's Pub in Charleville, Co. Cork, Ireland. Their parents, Tom and Peg Stack, opened the bar and lounge in 1953, and spent the next 40 years growing a business and raising a family on Main Street.
Tom and Garry Stack, both graduates of Rockwell College Culinary School, spent years working as chefs in Ireland and Europe, finally deciding to make America their home. When Garry and Tom arrived in America, their work ethic and determination carried them through years of working in various fine restaurants in Washington and New York while they searched for a place of their own. On January 20, 2001, Inauguration Day, the doors of the Irish Channel Restaurant & Pub opened.
Tom & Peg Stack at their sons' Grand Opening 2001
On February 21, 2001, Tom and Peg Stack traveled from Ireland to be here for the Grand Opening and see their sons carry on the family business, and see the sign from their own pub displayed in its place of honor behind the bar.
Come visit the Irish Channel, and see the difference history can make.

Yeah, the HHC pre-game happy hours are not in danger of being invaded by the oposing team's fans -- I don't know why they haven't been more successful. Any HHC members out ther have any thoughts on why these events are under-attended?

Lack of publicity. If you aren't a member, you're probably not going to find your way to GUHoyas to download a PDF file so you know where to go. You're also not likely to visit this website.
The HHC ties its hands (or the University does). If they could solicit across the country, they'd raise more money and have more resources for publicity.

tgo, the issue here is that no one actually belongs to the HHC.
People, honestly, if you post on this board but have an income, it's sad if you aren't a HHC member. You can donate like $25 and be in the Hoop Club. It takes about ten seconds via credit card and computer.
I know people are lazy or have money issues. If you have money issues, that's cool. But most of us blow $25 on a night out ez...

HHC happy hour was definitely a good time...I'd go again (assuming they'll be chicken fingers).

And can I just get some clarification? I have season tickets in the young alumni section, buying those seats automatically makes me a member of the HHC right? Or does it? I was never really clear on this.
