espn.go.com/dickvitale/070725allrollsroyce.htmlWhat stands out to me, other than Roy on his First All-Rolls Royce team, is that there is no Duke player listed. Wasn't this the guy who loved Paulus and Henderson coming out of high school? Or is Coach K not a good developer of talent? Nice recruiting tool... you have Roy who was a top 150 coming out and Paulus a consensus top 5 recruit. Where are they now?

Pretty lame name for a preseason team if you ask me. You'll also notice that the chump Gottlieb mentioned from Utah as equal to roy offensively is conspicuously absent from the first 5 teams. Vitale is annoying but Gottlieb is flat out terrible.

Lic has his own website or blog or something he was pushing around March. Who is older: Dukie V (can we call him that after not picking Duke players?) or Lic?

Going back a year, take a look at Dukie's all-stars: espn.go.com/dickvitale/060731allamerican.htmlNo Jeff, Oden, Durant, etc... About freshmen, he writes: "I don't have freshmen on any of these teams because I'd rather see how they play on the court before we rank them." - way to go out on a limb!!!

Aaron Grey on last year's Third Team. Roy on the Fourth. That worked out well.

I guess those threads predicting Roy, Hansbrough, Lofton, and Neitzel for pre-season teams were right. Well done fellas. Interesting to see Rush--definitely could be there if he recovers from his injury. Not surprised to see that Dajuan didn't make it, but won't be surprised if he's there at the end of the year.

I'm really glad Dajaun didn't make it. He doesn't need the preseason hype.
In all fairness, let's see what Dajaun does when teams are focused on him instead of Jeff before we put him on any All-America teams. Don't get me wrong- I think Dajaun is a beast who has a huge future at Gtown- but let's not hype him into "The Man" before he assumes that role.

I was talking with a sometime poster the other day, and he brought up a good point. DaJuan has all the talent in the world, but last year the guy got most of his points off open jump shots and offensive boards/broken plays. It's a big transition from there to lead scorer/go-to guy/creator. There's no doubt at his size with his handles he can do it, but asking him to be The Man from day one may be asking too much.

That said, he had a very successful freshman year and pretty much used 1/8th his skillset. He couldn't pass, rebound, play defense, and his conditioning hit a wall (only shot 39%, 31% from three in the Big East). In short, he was bad at the stuff freshmen are bad at. I don't know if he'll be the man but a year of conditioning, weights, and experience will sure go a long way to improving all his weak areas because he is so talented. This bodes very, very well for us. The good news is I don't think he has to be the man in the way Jeff was. He might be the guy to take big shots but he took a ton of big shots last year (and hit a lot of them too). But he's not going to have to get 100 assists. And he won't need to be lead scorer (though he might be), go-to-guy, or creator. He just has to complement Roy and Pat by being more efficient offensively than he was this year. That, I think he'll be more than ready to do.

I opened this thread all excited that we had a recruit named Dickie Love.
Imagine the dissappointment.

Giga, no disagreement on DaJuan's potentail.
On the other hand, I do think we're going to need him to step up. He doesn't have to be Jeff, because I think increased focus on Roy and some added offense from the frosh will help pick it up, but I do think he will play a larger role than Pat. Pat's skillset, to me, screams complementary player. That's not an insult, but you don't give him the ball with seven seconds left on the shot clock.
What I'd like to see out of DaJuan this year that we didn't see a lot of last year:
1) Drive to the hoop and finish 2) Drive and pass out of the coming double team/collapsing zone 3) Take that role at the free throw line versus the 2-3 4) Rebound

Go-to guy? Wallace has shown he can sink it when the game's on the line, not DaJuan. That said, we really have several go-to options. By the end of the year, Freeman will be one too.
