House Republicans just went through an four hour process over five ballots to pick a new Speaker-designee to try and get the House operating again. Just minutes after the process ended in the selection of Tom Emmert, the Malignant Mango Mobster threw a "lob over the hedges" (in the words of Rep. Tim Burchett) directing his cult followers to not support Rep. Emmert. Pathetic. Our country has important work that needs to get done, and Republican dysfunction is preventing it from happening. Its time for the "big kids" that are currently members of the defunct Republican Party to work with Democrats to get Congress functioning again, casting the MAGA cultists aside. thehill.com/homenews/house/4271795-house-republicans-speaker-nominee-live-coverage/ON EDIT: And now, he's been forced to drop out after two hours of being the Speaker designee.... the clown show continues. SANE REPUBLICANS (if there are any left): PLEASE work with Democrats to stop the embarrassment this is causing our country during this critical time.

I join in mourning the loss of Jack the Bulldog, and add in a wish/hope that the next Jack the Bulldog (and his handlers) can do something more compelling at basketball games than ride along the court in a remote control car.

Former members of the Ball State coaching staff need not apply.

I'm not sure... ask Tiffany Trump. So you agree it is crappy behavior? Biden has 7 grandchildren but only admits to 6. That stinks out loud from “good old Joe”. I call it "selective outrage".

It is very cool to have a President in the White House that cares about people other than himself, and is not actively plotting an insurrection against the country. Also true. So how do you feel about how the great lover of children won’t recognize the existence of his own flesh and blood? I'm not sure... ask Tiffany Trump.

It must be so cool to have a grandfather in the White House… 6 out of 7 kids surveyed say so… It is very cool to have a President in the White House that cares about people other than himself, and is not actively plotting an insurrection against the country.

Apparently it was not his constant lies or Fox's fear of further liability that got him canned, but rather the negative views about management he expressed in the text messages disclosed as part of the Dominion case. In any event, I believe "money talks" - and this settlement is already paying dividends. I hope Tucker doesn't let the door hit him on the way out, and enjoys his 8pm timeslot on Newsmax, OAN or whatever other extreme channel is willing to hire him.

I’m surprised how little chatter is on here regarding this news. This is necessary and important. Agreed completely on the necessary and important fronts. I don't think there is much more to say though other than what has already been said. Ronny's presence was detrimental to the program and I am glad the new regime appears to have quickly realized that.

This is what you said: “Again, I’m surprised we haven’t seen this type of promotion from Gtown or at least an interview of someone who’s staying talking the new staff up” “P.S. - Pitino has two players but even he puts out this type of content.“ You are accusing our staff and coach of not doing something. “We haven’t” “At least” “Even he” You are just backpedaling and also putting up your Deflector Shields. Yes, I'm surprised that we haven't seen clips of the players who are left going thru drills or have seen interviews of some of them... Not sure where I'm backpedaling or deflecting. My response to Seaweed was to say I didn't make the post because I'm grumpy. It was to show an example of teams doing workouts after the season has ended. At this point, I'm not sure we have enough players left to run any drills. It is a fact that the majority of the team next year are new guys who will transfer to Georgetown in the fall. So until then the majority of basketball being played on campus will be at Yates...

I looked at the recruiting table to see where we are and I noticed the first slot said Allen. Any update? He’s the forgotten recruit. I wish the kid the best, but he was a “DNP” for his entire senior season. In my admittedly uninformed opinion (aside from noting he rode the bench for an entire year in high school), I think he needs to go to a place where he can shine and then move up from there.

I will be thrilled next season if the following happens:
1. We see Ronny as a color commentator to a game such as Old Dominion vs. Louisiana Tech, likely on MASN 2. 2. Ronny is nowhere to be found at the Capital One Arena on Georgetown game days.
I know from past seasons that spotting #1 doesn't necessarily mean that Ronny is not playing a role at Georgetown, but it certainly makes it less likely that he can be destructive to the program.

Anyone who knows PE2 realizes that this is a loss for the program. Come again?

Can't see him waiting around for a year - not sure how that's gonna work out. Probably the best for us. It'd be a huge gamble to keep him around and hope for a turnaround in his play, only to realize mid-year that he's just not buying in. Bring in Dual, keep Riley or Bass, and find somebody else who can fill in those minutes on the wing. It's not nearly as important as finding a starting PG or starting C at this point. Unless the waiver rules have changed, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a waiver due to the coaching change.

Matt Painter. What a coach. All those draft picks on Fairleigh Dickinson. It just goes to show that you don’t need four star talent or size to win in D1. You just need the right mix of kids, and a coach that motivates and teaches beyond yelling “MOVE” and “REBOUND”. FDU won four games last season. I guess you can say that they “started from the bottom, now they here”.

The web site JG Trends in 2022 had it at $1.1 million per win. No update? There have not been many wins in 2023....

He can't quit at this point - why give up a penny of the $11 million after holding on through this disaster of a season? How do you turn those answers into a mutual parting of ways or a gentleman's retirement? This is what really upsets me about the powers that be and Ewing. You would think that they could have gotten their ducks in a row at the end of the regular season and said to Ewing something to the effect of: "Look, we'll put in writing that you are getting the buyout no matter what. That way you can be gracious at the end of the season and say that you and the University decided it was time to leave because things are not working." Either the powers that be didn't have the strength to get that done, or Ewing is so damn stubborn that he actually thinks that none of what happened the last two years was his fault, and he deserves a chance to turn it around. There is no need to waste any more time here. The announcement should happen tonight or tomorrow. This is an opportunity to win back the fan base. Don't blow it!

"No thoughts about my future. [The last] two seasons have been rough.... My future is in the hands of the President, the Athletic Director and the Board of Directors."
Do you want to come back next year?
"I am proud of being a Georgetown Hoya.... I would be honored to come back as the coach here."
Translation: I'm cashing in that $12 million check.
