May not even be 500 people here. Sigh.
On the plus side, maybe they read feedback here, because they finally changed the background color of the out of town scoreboard so you can actually read it.

Ryan is warming up so I assume there is no reason to worry.

The non-game experience at Capital One has never been great, but it's become comically terrible at this point.
You can't bring in anything larger than a wallet, our pre-game hype video is less exciting than a random TikTok post, the mascot's body and head don't match, you can't read the out of town scoreboard because of absurd font color and background choices, no decent concessions are open, the band and cheerleaders have been doing the same things for 10+ years, there is no creative entertainment during timeouts or halftime, and they don't even have the t-shirt launcher anymore. Jack riding the little SUV is fine, but nowhere near the old box eating.
I'm a long-time season ticket holder and will go to every game no matter what, but this kind of stuff can't be helping attendance, and we obviously need all the help we can get given the marginal on-court product. There were roughly 50 students there last night, a few season ticket holders, and likely barely any casual fans.
Who exactly is in charge of this stuff? Maybe if we fixed some of it we could at least find takers for free tickets.

Forgot to mention this Saturday, but it seems like there is a new Jack costume and his body is a darker color than his head. Could use some work.

Dante's 3s looked really off today. Last year his upper half looked fine, but his lower body was way too high effort on 3s - it looked like he was trying to jump as high as he could on every shot - and it obviously didn't work.
They clearly worked on that, as he has a more standard and relaxed jump on 3s this year ... but now his upper half looks super high effort, and he wasn't even hitting shots in warmups. Hopefully he can figure it out.

Please, please, please stop replying to rockhoya. He has only been back for a few days and already started aggressively hostile arguments with numerous other posters.
Until the mods step in, for the good of all of us, please ignore him.

So strange, I have FIOS and in DC they chose to show stock car racing and transferred the game t channel 1498. There, I only get sound and no picture. Out of desperation, I tried the FIOS TV on my phone and was able to see the last few seconds of the first half! We're kicking @$$. How? No matter that great!! Go Hoyas!! Are you Editeding with us? Channel 505 dude

Another great listen. A lot of good insight into last year's team It was the most information on the departures that I've heard. Mind giving a quick recap?

Stated tuition, room and board $77,000 per year. But some say only about 25% pay it. Don't accuse me of bias when I ask who pays the other 75%? Agents? Shoe companies? Who? I assume high schools like this recruit at some level - do they not give out athletic scholarships (which would be subsidized by those students who pay)? Presumably sponsorships as well, but I'm sure others are a lot more familiar with this then I am.

Can you provide more context for those of us who haven't listened yet?

I think we need at least one and possibly two new assistants, and the lack of movement there is one of my biggest disappointments of the offseason. I also don't have an issue with the idea of giving one of those slots to a former player, as long as they are on a similar level to other candidates - however, even if we want to go that route, I have no idea if Wright or Freeman would be the best choices based on the limited coaching experience they have so far.

What’s wrong with that post? He keeps creating threads to promote his blog.

Almost all of the most active posters in this thread would be better off (as would the rest of us) if they focused on something else for a few days.
This discussion stopped being productive many, many posts ago.

Ah. Well if it is just a top 10 and not a surprise commitment, I don't need to worry about refreshing all day.

It does sound like he recruited us more than the other way around, but overall I thought it was a very impressive interview and he seems to have a good sense of what he needs to work on.

Putting this here too. Another university fires the old head coach who had guys leave on him and saw no success and hires a proven mid-major HC and sees immediate results in landing talent. Weird. Almost as if another university could learn from this. Let's not go overboard. This guy averaged 7 points on 31% shooting last year.

Regardless of how much you think McClung would have helped the team, I think the issue that most of us are struggling with is why we can't seem to keep anyone on the roster. That's also overblown. We are in the transfer era of NCAA basketball. Every single program goes through transfers, because it's so easy to do so. I think last season was an extreme year, obviously, because the guys that left were all integral guys. But, other than that, it hasn't been anything out of the norm. Is 7/12 high school recruits leaving the program so far normal? And if anything that might get worse since 3 of the remaining 5 play the same position (I don't see Wilson as a modern PF, but we can have that debate elsewhere).

I'm 100 percent fine with this. Not sure why there's so much hand wringing over Mac transferring. He scores a lot. He doesn't raise the ceiling of a team. In essence, whatever record this team is going to have next season, it was going to be the same record whether Mac was on the roster or not. Now, with him gone, hopefully the incoming class moves the ball, defends for each other, plays for each other, instead of playing for whatever their individual agenda was, which is what every member of the 2018 class did. Both sides needed a fresh start Regardless of how much you think McClung would have helped the team, I think the issue that most of us are struggling with is why we can't seem to keep anyone on the roster.

I'd been worried about Ewing and the state of the program, but hadn't fully fallen into the pit of pessimism yet. Now I have. Unless there is something outside of basketball causing this, it's really hard to not feel like it is a disaster - especially when you consider that Akinjo supposedly transferred in part because of competition with McClung.

Do you start Bile and move Pickett to SF? Yes! Whether Pickett plays SF or PF he'll have the same role on offense - so I think it'll really just be a game by game matter of defensive matchups. Bile is shorter than Pickett and listed at 200lbs, so not sure it is a lock that he will always defend the bigger guy.
