I know it was Kenner League, but I really liked what Bass showed on both sides of the ball. Think he can fit into Cooley’s system.

Agreed. Bass is a gifted athlete and he knows how to play. Will likely find his way into the rotation.

You might feel differently if you watched the last two minutes of the Tombs in Kenner today. Primo had a back court violation followed by two turnovers in the last three possessions. Tombs had a 7 point lead with two remaining and never scored again. That said, Murray landed hard on his hip with about 10 minutes to go and hobbled for the rest of the game so Primo lost his wingman. Flashes from both players today - one absolutely sick no look, behind-the-back pass from Primo to Murray in transition….but otherwise nothing truly noteworthy.
(That said, I do think we have solid depth at the guard position going into this season, which should provide for competition and options)

Doesn’t Aminu have to sit out a year if he doesn’t withdraw his name from the Xfer Portal by May 1? Feels like his choices are between taking his chances with the draft or playing at Georgetown. I can’t imagine a kid with that kind of talent - who is already 20 - wants to sit on the sidelines. I guess he could go to Europe. If the coaching staff can pull in an elite PG and C/PF over the next two weeks things get interesting fast.

Looks like he’s changed his username to Deleted but hasn’t actually deleted his account. He’ll be back. If there's anything I know from my decades of experience on this board & my vast knowledge of point guard play, it's that there's another Rock just waiting to Glide in. 123 Fireballs!

Agreed - I think hiring Ewing is risky - but only because of the potential to tarnish his Georgetown legacy. But we have already stared down this barrel with JTIII and I doubt it can be much more of a circus than this. There will be a clean break from the Thompson's regardless of how the Ewing era works out. It's just a question of whether it's 3 years from now or 10+.
Ewing has a true basketball pedigree, and if we were talking about Tim Duncan with a similar resume (after 15 years as an NBA assistant) I just can't imagine there being this much hand-wringing. As for JT2's involvement in the program, no way he feels as comfortable screaming at kids during halftime if his son isn't coaching. I'm sure Ewing respects JT2, but he is a grown a** man and a HOFer who has been out of college for almost 30 years. I bet he learned how to manage Big John long ago.
One positive I don't feel like I've read yet (and forgive me if I just missed it...128 pages...), Patrick Ewing is a father, whose son went through the AAU and college recruiting process not too long ago. He also had to wrestle with the decision to transfer from one big name program to another. I like that Ewing can sit in the living room with a kid's parents and relate to that experience.
Ewing may be a bust...but there is that risk with any coach we hire. But he also might be exactly what this program needs right now. Given the alternatives we are left with, I'm getting on that train and will allow myself to get excited about it. One thing is for certain, a Ewing at the helm of GU will generate a lot of press coverage. Here's hoping he learned how to handle that frenzy, and if anything these past few weeks have shown that Georgetown is still pretty relevant.

Joe Dooley from FGCU. Went to WG, spent years as an assistant at KU. Could be an interesting fit...

Accountability. The rest of us are accountable for performance in our jobs. A coach of a D1 program like Georgetown must also be accountable for results. They matter. The current state of the program is a mess, and if DeGioia cares about preparing young men and women for the real world, he has to make this change and lead by example. Loyalty is important, yes. That's what bought JTIII this year, and things are now worse. Do your job Reed and DeGioia. Leaders are paid to make the tough decisions no matter how painful they may be.

This. Georgetown is a program in utter disarray. Can't win. Can't recruit. Can keep kids already recruited. Simply put, expectations aren't being met, and now we know it's a trend and not an anomaly. There is only one person accountable for that. It's sad - for everyone involved - but now it's time for everyone to move on.

Loyal season ticket holder for 22 years now. Sadly you can count me as one who will not be renewing next year. I genuinely like JTIII and believe that he and his teams have reflected well on Georgetown. I would love for him to turn things around. But this was the year where demonstrable progress was necessary and the opposite happened. Accountability can be cruel, but it demands that the program bite the bullet and hire a new coach. When you get paid as much as JTIII is paid, that is the real world.
Onward to bigger and better things. Now.

Not for nothing, but it is complete BS that 11 seed Dayton gets a home play-in game and then gets to follow that up with a "second round" game in Columbus. Just doesn't feel right.

Yeah Friars look baaaaad. Dunn trying to do too much. But they are keeping it close enough (and Dayton shooting badly enough) that they can till pull it out.

This team seems built to do well in the NCAA tournament...deep, able to play multiple styles, solid defense and rebounding, upperclassmen leadership, points that can come from surprising places which makes the Hoyas tough to prepare for. BUT...have they really strung together more than 2 great performances in a row this season? I'd like to think this is because the BE is just that good, but I worry that it's false hope. To me, getting to the Sweet Sixteen and putting up a dog fight against a top seed in that game would be a huge success. Beyond that is pure gravy.
