Frankly, I'd like to know the origin of B&G's shocking, to me, comments, especially the "brace yourself" narrative...this sounds very authoritative and imminent to me...as if he's gotten some word from the staff that Ryan isn't coming to G'town...I guess that's possible but would still be shocking to me at this stage...of course there's always the possibilty that he may go elsewhere, but most people have felt that G'town is the strong leader so unless something dramatic has occurred, I'd like to get some more clarification on his text due to its alarming and somewhat out of nowhere text... To me, it might just have more to do with the fact that this board is horrible at managing expectations. And quite frankly where do you get the impression that GU is seen as a leader, let alone a strong one? Tbh I’m not sure GU has been in the lead in a few years now. If anything, we only recently have made up some ground since he used specific comments to open up his recruiting. My impression is that we’ve had work to do since those comments, he wasn’t saying it just to say it. Kids want to win. I’m not sure if anyone is disputing that we have a lot work to do in the recruitment of Ryan. Like S4 I would also like to get more information into why he feels it’s imminent that Ryan will be committing to a school other than GU.

well how would any of you feel...PE still pushing another PG transfer, two PG's in your graduating class & 8 offers for 2021...I LOVE HIM...but I would not be madd at him Editeded in one hand and motivated in the other! PE still has to recruit regardless, you have to keep the cupboard full just in case you have a ball hog that feels that the team revolves around him and decides to transfer. Hmm that kinda sounds familiar!! It’s possible that he watched film of PE’s significant use of the 3 guard lineup last year and figured that there would be plenty of playing time available. Specifically since 2 of those starting guards will not be on the roster next year.

Just got a class full of guys that want to be here. The Jagans and others past players have talked about being no place else. Proud to have played here and for the coach. This site is very toxic at times. The thrown out comment as above is toxic and is the very things that is hard to get past about so many here that call themselves fans. Players have transferred from the Novas, Dukes, KUs, WSU..etc, for various reasons, go to their sites and you see many of their fans trying to convince other recruits this is the place to be. But here we sign a promising recruit, a player who wants in and in less than 24 hours into whoever that player is the negativity will start at some level from many who has never recruited a player but they are experts on these young emotional young people and their skills. Said it before these young men get on the various platforms just to see what people say about them to get the love, their egos stroked, just in general to see what "Their" fans are saying and to come here to a place where they are calling home and to see from some the constant lack of love that is perpetuated. Even in the pros a toxic fan base make them want to get traded. These are young men 17 - 20 for the most part. Parents check sites as well to see what the community says about their young men, would also say that some parents vibes can dampened on this "FAN" site. Make it easy to search love somewhere else. Do we remember one parent posted about things said about their child. Just do not get it. Also quit coming here nearly as much and also wish that players and families are not reading some of the comments here. Any player recruited during this day and age is subject to transfer with a variety of reasons regardless of the program. Mac is a good player I wish him the best. I am so glad you posted this! Thank you. Ditto

Mac posted the Agents Twitter comments on his Instagram. He wants to be taken seriously by NBA teams over the next month. Ewing made a mistake. It happens. Apologize. Move on. Not to be callous, but Mac doesn't exactly have many options. G-League, International or back to Georgetown. I cant imagine sitting out a year is remotely on the table. And the NBA...well, let's be serious. I'm with you. I'm trying to figure out what bargaining position got ruined. I was thinking the same thing.

One could say the same of those who do not believe the sample size is not large enough ... the constant iteration of “trust coach” .... I agree that there are also some who are more optimistic about the program than facts would justify. Ewing's results to date certainly have not raised the level of this program. Agreed. Also there are some overly pessimistic posters who don’t want to take transfers and injuries in consideration when evaluating the status of the program under coach Ewing.

Have to be patient with this kid but eventually he's going to be a problem on D if he keeps working. decent highlights but that's not big east caliber competiton he playing against. He's 6'11 playing against 6'0 players. The tweet was from Jan 2018. I’m guessing he would have improved significantly since those videos were taken. He also would have played against Big East caliber players in practice Last year. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Lol. Wilson at best is a back up center. He can not play the pf spot. It would be ugly. If he could Ewing would have played him last year when we were hurting for bodies. I believe the decision had already been made to Redshirt Wilson

Essentially Pickett was our power forward last year. Why can’t a beefed upped Wilson with more length than Pickett play the PF? Is Wilson really any closer to being a center? Is this serious? I don’t think Wilson scored a basket that wasn’t immediately under the basket all throughout high school. Wilson and Pickett are not even remotely similar as players. I wasn’t comparing Pickett and Wilson Skill set wise because Pickett is more of a wing. With a couple years of weight/skills training I believe Wilson because of his frame will more likely be a PF than a center.

Wilson is no where near a pf. U don't want him playing on the perimeter or trying to guard smaller quicker guys out there either. Essentially Pickett was our power forward last year. Why can’t a beefed upped Wilson with more length than Pickett play the PF? Is Wilson really any closer to being a center?

Star Tribune says he was torn between the Gophers and NC on Saturday night according to a source with knowledge but with no decision today (Sunday) there unsure if it’s really down to those 2 ... That doesn’t sound good for our chances. Either stay home or UNC.

No surprise here, the way it seemed to play out didn't smell like a Gtown comittment. The staff better have a rabbit they are about to pull out of their hat and that could be Walton but honestly I don't expect that either. Yeah this has taken an odd turn, does not seem like a Hoya story. Did I miss something? I was following the thread and I got to this point where posters were acting like Georgetown was no longer being considered...... Why?

We have a pass first PG who cant shoot, an inefficient volume shooter (either one) at SG, a 3 and D guy (JP assuming we get a 4) and a pure on the block C and you think this is the type of player we need at the 4? Even if this guy did everything well, which I don't think he does we need more than that. You can't just keep adding backup level players to average players and hoping to get good results. What you described is what Wilson profiles to be. I wouldn't bring in a guy that is the average at best version of what Wilson should be. We should just see what we have in Wilson in that case. If we are bringing in grads they need to be a big upgrade in talent over what we have. It hasn't happened yet but there is still time. Wilson is not what I am describing. It's like you guys are not remembering Sanogo or not. He is a 6'8 guy who can move. Watch the video. He can hit a shot from the perimeter if you leave him alone. But most of all is a guy who hustles and competes. I dont know what kind of 4 you think is gonna come in that isnt just a 3 that is gonna be some kind of scorer. Plus this team needs people who compete and play D. I'm not advocating for that kid just someone like Sanogo. I dont see "scoring as the problem" with this team it's people who can stop people from scoring. Personally I would rather see what Wilson brings to the table and whether he can play the 4. Minutes behind Q and Tim at the 5 are going to be limited.

You're basically working on behalf of all the other teams. Makes their job easy when you are doing it for them. I agree that someone posting negative statements like this is not a fan of the program. I often wonder if they are a staff member for a rival Big East team. We live in a world where negative advertising is used for many purposes, not just during the election cycle. One of the many problems with boards like this one is that the identity of the poster cannot be ascertained and can negatively influence recruits. So true.....

Yeah, but you left something out-- a whining fan base that only complains, never sees the positives. Compares The Hoyas to a full roster UVA team. Remember last summer when we were all happy that Coach E was recruiting players with defensive abilities...new flash folks, those dudes left the program. As a result, we were gonna have the same defensive problems as years past. SMDH... The comp to UVA is apt. They are playing only 7, at times, 8 guys with five getting the vast majority of the time so their fatigue should be about the same. Yet, their defense is at the very top (and is every year). It’s clearly a coaching advantage they have over everyone. I’m not suggesting that we should be as good as them but I am 100% sure that if we had competent coaching, the defense, and the team, would be way better even with the depleted roster. Our coaches are bad at the job and results speak for themselves. Correct, if UVA also lost 4 key players in the middle of the season and 2 remaining starters for a 1/3 of the season. A better comparison would be UNC whose had fewer player losses than Georgetown and has a record far worst than the Hoyas. To fit your narrative you would probably say Bennet is a better coach than Roy Williams even though Roy has won more titles.

I agree 100% with Sax. In the long term I feel doing more with less has made Ewing a better coach. But, why? All the things that were bad in the first two years and before the guys left are still bad. It would be ok to point at a lack of depth if it looked like the guys on the floor were playing a functional cohesive defense but were just getting outmanned. But, they aren’t. They are getting torched because they have no clue what they are doing and they are outmanned. There are many teams that are able to play decent to good defense with a lot less talent than us even after the exodus. The coaching is atrocious and it has not improved at all. I can not understand this idea that the coaching staff has shown any sort of progress this year because both the data and the eye test contract that. I can agree that the defense definitely needs to improve. But to ignore having 4 players playing 35+ minutes per game causing mental and physical lapses is ignoring reality. And no there is not a team who has lost close to the number and quality of personnel that the Hoyas have lost and still compete in the Big East.

Jay Wright brought in four top 100 recruits in 2002, including a top 5 player, and then brought in another 2 in 2003. Same as Herb Sendek, bringing in absolute monster recruiting classes buys you time to develop them. Patrick Ewing is not doing that. That's not even what worries about next year's class though - we need maturity and we need to have some sort of class balance, and it looks like we're bringing in a giant glob of freshmen from all recruiting accounts. That's going to lead to a ton of problems - lack of maturity, lack of leadership, possible transfers. TC, if you want to present the most negative possible take on Coach and team, have at it. OK, Wright brought in kids who were highly ranked. Ewing brought in kids who achieve on the floor -- 5 First team BE All Rookies, including one kid who was ROY. You prefer rankings. I prefer performance. Because of that "mass exodus and a likely "early" departure in Yurt, Coach has 7 roster openings. Would you prefer he not bring in 7 new recruits? What would you advise him to do instead? Sure, getting transfers, especially grad transfers -- the right grad transfers -- can really help a team due to experience. Obviously, Coach already knows that as we have the examples of Malinowski and Allen. But there is no guarantee HOYAS will get more grad transfers of that level this year - or any year. And as of right now, we have 3 more schollies for next season. We don't know yet which, if any, Grad transfers will arrive. The key to building a successful program long term is bringing in talent. Wouldn't you prefer more talented frosh with higher ceilings to more experienced grad transfers with less talent? There are advantages to each, of course. But coach and staff are out there doing everything possible to continue to build the roster right now. This season was a disappointment. In my view, there are two major reasons. The "mass exodus" in December, and the loss of our two leading scorers to injury over the second half of the BE season. You may choose to assign responsibility for both issues to Coach. Ultimately, the buck stops with Ewing. I get it. But I look at the exodus as an extraordinary circumstance that is highly unlikely to happen again. Take away those two major issues and this season would have been far better and marked the continued growth of the program. You see it some other way. It's ok with me if you want to agree to I agree 100% with Sax. In the long term I feel doing more with less has made Ewing a better coach.

This is a 10th place (of 11) team at the beginning of next year.y OK, you’ve set the low bar. How about waiting to see what the roster actually looks like before throwing in the towel? Hopefully we can get the Pickett who played today consistently next year.
