Hey Hoyaindia, I think you're on to something... Mark Few! Why else the inordinate delay?

One of wealthiest alumni bases? Maybe so, but wealthy is not synonymous with generous -otherwise the endowment would not be so low relative to the university's stature.

You have seen things posted on this board and posters fall over each other to denounce it. And in this case when someone would post that paying JTIII's salary's and paying another coach's salary would be an issue of termination, there was silence. Here is another apparent lie, Gtown's main focus is academics and the success of the basketball program is not a priority of the University. 2 questions- 1. An unchallenged lie being posted on this board for years does not bother you? 2. You work for the University? Only fools propagated the notion that money was a deciding issue re: JT3. We have one of the wealthiest alumni bases in America. Money was never a factor.

I tend to agree that JD needs to remove himself from the process. He's too emotionally attached to the Thompson era and Pops in particular. I am confident that Tag will act in the best interest of Georgetown and select a dynamic, forward- looking coach who respects the legacy but is independent of it.

I live near Monmouth Univ. and before King Rice came to the program, their Arena was empty and they couldn't pay people to go to games. Within a few years King Rice has turned the program around. They had two successful seasons and are playing to packed houses. Monmouth beat us last year, as I knew they would. Rice is very smart, tough and the players seem to love him. If he's interested, I would hope he would be considered.

Two slam dunk recruits: you forgot TJ Leaf.

Wade was a student manager at Clemson. I'm betting it would be really sweet for him to come back as head coach, depending on what happens with Brownell. LSU is also taking a look at Tom Crean, too: www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/lsu-gauging-interest-of-ex-indiana-coach-tom-crean-current-vcu-coach-will-wade/Saw somewhere else that Indiana was trying to put together some huge offer for Steve Alford. Now, that shows what one slam dunk as a recruit can do for you. He goes from nearly getting fired at UCLA to drawing major interest from Indiana. A lot of movements on the coaching search front.

I must say The Way's strategy is masterful - deflect the discussion away from the problem at hand. Would this work in politics?

Feeling nostalgic? If we stay on the present course in men's basketball we'll return to the sixties when Georgetown was a great academic institution and its marquee sport was track.

What's 'interesting' is that we would keep a coach we know won't be successful. But I guess when the University President is unwilling and unable to wrest control of the program from that coach's dad, that's what we get.

Absolutely pathetic! What is the Administration thinking? What is JT III thinking? I have my head in the sand and no one can see me. Everything will be alright, we just need time. Build it and they will come. The situation is urgent. Neither the fans, nor the few recruits who remain worthy of targeting are going to even think about the future with Georgetown unless or until the Administration and its always reclusive coach comment. The damage is done and cannot be reversed by simply going into hiding and hoping it will all go away. The program is in need of a complete makeover. Failure to at least comment publicly is as arrogant and disrespectful to the fans as I can imagine. My only communication from the school has been the solicitation for the Athletic Fund and a couple of calls from young work-study students asked to call alumni for contributions.

I will await Georgetown SID claim that its Twitter account was hacked. They are taking steps to ensure it will never happen again by changing the password from "123Fireballs" to "123Fireballs!"

Did you see the post which read: "His recruiting has fallen off a cliff the last 4-5 seasons. His inability to commit to a firm retirement date is killing the stability of this program. He can't manage a team effectively anymore. The [coach] of ten years ago would have won 2-3 more games at least with this team and gotten us into the tournament. Better to leave a year too early than a year too late"? Georgetown? No, it's a post over at Syracusefan.com. The Orangemen lost at home in the NIT today before just 9,000 at the Carrier Dome to that basketball power of the south, Ole Miss. In fact, this is the first time since 1958 that the all-time record of Ole Miss basketball is at or above .500 (1241-1241). When asked why the team had continually lost defensive intensity, he said, "Ask them."

Yes, I neglected to acknowledge Foster's role on returning D U K E to championship level caliber. But trust me, there was great dissatisfaction for a long time among Duke alums and junkies about the condition of the basketball program during the post-Bubas era. Yet, there was always the fertile ground of a top-ranked brand that enabled a competent recruiter like Bill Foster to rebuild the program to its past glory. My HOPE is that the same can be done with the basketball program at G E O R G E T O W N.

During the ten years prior to the arrival of Coach K, Duke basketball was in the doldrums. However, the brand never suffered, even with three less than stellar coaches at the helm and you-know-who just 8 miles away. The school still remained D U K E. Coach K, with fire in his belly, exploited this brand to restore the school's basketball greatness. That's not accurate. While Duke was a decided 3rd in the market behind Carolina and NC State, it was far from in the doldrums, having come off the 1978 Final Four and the Final Eight in 1980 under Bill Foster berore Krzyzewski arrived. Much like a young Jim Boeheim, the West Point coach was considered by many as overmatched for the role when he arrived. Bucky Waters didn't have a great record (63-55, one NCAA, three NIT) but was playing in an ACC era of three Hall of Famers (Dean Smith, Lefty Driesell, Frank McGuire) plus Norm Sloan in an era when only one ACC team qualified for the NCAA every year. Nonetheless, Duke finished in the top four every year under Waters. Neill McGeachy was run out after one year to make room for Foster.
