It's embarrassing that a team can play a bad as Butler played in the 1st half, and easily make up the deficit and win. And they went down because they were flat and has some bizarre turnovers. It wasn't like we played great and jumped on them. We look like a bottom feeder once again.

It's a coach's job to get players to execute. It's part of teaching and communicating. It's the most important aspect of coaching. If a player fails to execute, that's a failure of coaching. Coaches are all similar in terms of X's and O's. They all pull info from the same pool of knowledge. It comes down to talent and how the knowledge is communicated to players.
This is where Ewing struggles.

At some point we need to stop recruiting like an A-10 school or bottom of a major conference school. We aren't bringing in the high level talents

You know why we take them? Because fudge Maryland! That's why. Yeah let's take Maryland's scraps! They won't care one bit if they end up here. No thanks. If one of them was a proven starter, then yeah.

Maryland writer says they were sent packing by Turgeon. They were going to be suspended for a practice altercation. They were ranked top 5 preseason. You have to be pretty bad to get the boot so quickly on a team with high hopes.
Plus I just don't think they upgrade our talent level and I'm as down as anyone on our talent level.

They were run after one semester. Not a season, but a semester. They aren't supremely talented enough to gamble on the laziness and immaturity going away.

Looking at the Friars guy, he was a volume scorer at a lower level with very poor efficiency. Should have been red flags all over that one. Empty scoring numbers.

Neither guy should have been hyped. They have had nondescript careers and were not going to change anyone's trajectory.

Completely missing the point. Mac's going to be less efficient with his usage going up.

Mac shoots less than 40% from the field. More shots is not likely to help his efficiency numbers. It's just not a recipe for success.

I was pretty high on James during parts of his freshman year. I felt like by the time he was a senior, he would be a hell of a player. He was our 2nd best/ most talented player besides Josh.
But truth is, our backcourt was a lot of flash and no substance. Inefficient scoring and turnovers are not recipes for success. You can blame youth. But it's also not fair to assume growth. It doesn't always happen the way fans envision.
This is a big loss because now we lack an answer at PG next year. Need a grad transfer.

All the Mackinjo Kenner reports now look ridiculous. As usual, don't trust the ridiculous hyperbole that comes out of that league.

Folks we can blame the players, coaches, refs but we are missing the elephant in the room. Since Otto left we have not had an NBA drafted player. Face it, our talent level is not up to the level needed for us to be considered a big time program. Anyone watch Marquette this week? Played just like us for 30 minutes in both games then Marcus Howard took over. Anyone watch Mayland? Played just like us for 35 minutes then Anthony Cowan took over. Myles Powell almost willed his team over Michigan State. Who is our stud? Who is our Otto, Austin, AI, Sleepy? We just lost to UNCG after beating Texas. Is talent really the issue? Of course it is. When an optimistic outlook prior to the season is squeaking into the tournament, talent is an issue. Teams with a wealth of talent make it comfortably. Between our style of play and roster limitations, we don't have a great margin of error.

Reading this board I might as well not watch the 25 plus games left on the schedule. Wow...so many people caught in the moment on here. It was all good Just a week ago...after dismantling Texas & a very tough game vs the "number 1 team in the county (at the time) where the refs unfortunately had a hand in the outcome. Now this team and the Coach (the greatest player in the history of the program) are trash according to a good portion of these post. The funny thing is that if this team wins at Ok State, then the Coach is back to being a genius. It was a bad game! That it! Way to early to tell if it is anything more. The coach can only put a team in position to win. For example, I don't think Coach Ewing designed a play for Yurt7 to blow a dunk or for Akinjo to attack the basket 1 vs 3 multiple times. The real sad part is there are people on here who say they are fans of the program (some long time poster) but are actively hoping for its failure. They love days like this because they get to post their disgruntled feelings over and over again until their hearts content. Take attendance after the Hoyas win on Wednesday. The traffic on here will be significantly less as some so called fans go MIA in the moments of success. It wasn't just a bad game. It was a continuation of bad play from the beginning of the season. While Texas was ranked, they are 46th in kenpom. So I never bought into Texas being as difficult a game as many thought. That wasn't far from being an even matchup.

Who the heck said we should have been ranked after the Empire Classic? No way someone said that...

Oh and everyone wants to hype up our backcourt. All flash, no substance. You can't win in CBB when your guards can't crack 40 percent from the field. Mac gives us no assists, defense, or rebounds, if he's not scoring efficiently what value does he bring? More turnovers than assists.
Akinjo has just been bad. I don't care about big shots I care about good play game to game. Their backups are Blair and Allen. That's putrid
This is why we aren't a tournament team. 2 guys who shouldn't be relied on so heavily being the focal points.

Have your fun, this loss and the poor play by almost everyone in the court is perplexing. There is very little balance and too much dependence on Yurtseven, who seems soft as butter, and too much hero ball by Akinjo. Call it anyway you want...I don't have words for this disappointing display! Huh? I was told Yurt was tough. He's fine. But he's not good enough to be a focal point.

Leblanc is our best player and he's not starting. Foolishness. Anyway, recruiting is important. This roster isn't good enough.
