Never said or claimed to be a I know it all. Just said I wouldn't be surprised based on the fit and familiarity basketball wise. Funny how I championed your boy Agau as he is leaving, stating how he got better as the season went on, called him our best interior defender, speaking highly on his future and how he should get a lot interest from a variety a programs (more offers than some on here expect), also stating he was a team first guy as a host for several visiting recruits/transfers, as well as saying I was sad that he was leaving because of his best basketball was a head of him. I congratulated him and wished him luck in the future. Everything I said was positive about Agau Akoy. I HAVE NEVER taken a shot at your boy! Always been positive, while several others were crapping on him throughout the season and even today they are kicking him on the way out the door but I'm the one you take a shot at because I gave my opinion that I wouldn't be surprised based on familiarity, location and fit? Hmmm.....interesting! sorry it came out that way. I didn't mean for that to be a direct hit at you. ill understand if the apology is not accepted. No excuses but some of the crap got under my skin quickly and "my jaw started flapping before the brain was engaged", just got directed towards the wrong person!!!!!

It is not my place to speak on be-half of Akoy. He was home over the weekend to attend my oldest son's wedding. We had a heart felt discussion about this and at that point he wasn't close to a decision and was solely concentrating on graduation. We haven't spoke to Akoy since Sunday morning. I can assume things from our talk(like some of the CLUELESS people giving there 2cents worth on this topic). And for some of the know-it-alls, don't plan on seeing him at Nebraska, even with 2 former college teammates there.

Good evening, Husker, how's the situation with Akoy? Should we expect him to be on GU's roster in October? Too bad! This was in the cards for a while now, but playing time was available here. According to a friend of his at school, Agau thought of himself as a two-&-done future NBAer. It has taken him longer. Strange that he wouldn't want to learn from Ewing and get a graduate degree from GU. Wish him the best. Husker, any insight post-decision? It is not my place to speak on be-half of Akoy. Yo Husker, you're buds with Akoy? Do me a favor, tell him Miracles'87 loves watching him play ball! Seriously, I know yesterday wasn't what he hoped, but he plays hard with tremendous talent and desire, and I know he's just getting started. I have no doubt Akoy is going to make his mark at Georgetown, and I will be cheering all the way! Thanks! Not exactly buds. We consider our relationship as "family". Akoy would tell you the same. I will pass along the message. You are correct, not what he wanted, but his play wasn't terrible. Credited with 5 TO's but 1 was a blown officiating call on a kicked ball. One other was Derrickson mistaking Akoy for a streaking guard at half-court. I would agree with JT3's assessment of Akoy being a little over zealous yesterday. One thing to remember, this is the first time in 2 years he is healthy and it is definitely starting to show. No Georgetown people see it but I can as I know what he was before injuries. You will NEVER be able to call him out for lack of effort. FWIW I had the pleasure of meeting Copeland yesterday.

A quick spin from me(fwiw). Not a very well played game yesterday for sure. 2 things I think that contributed to this were: 1) 8 days off is NOT good. Hell the pros don't even play well coming back from an extended time off from game action, 2) the travel plans were totally blown up. My wife and I were in contact(text) with Akoy Saturday evening around 5:30ish and they hadn't left there rooms yet for the airport. They were supposed to have arrived around 3 that afternoon in Omaha. They had practice until 11'ish(or later)that nite. Not making excuses, just saying I feel these factors played into the game somewhat.

Having just beat down a bubble team that we lost to earlier in the season, the Hoyas are clearly improving. The question remains, is it too little to late? We've seen Jt3 shorten his bench and we've seen Govan take a major step in becoming the player we thought he could be when he committed to Georgetown, but behind it all and what perhaps doesn't get enough recognition is the development of Akoy Agau. Beyond being the heart and soul of this team...he's elevated his game to the point where he is filling voids this team once had. We had been getting killed on the boards...in comes akoy and becomes our best rebounder. We had been missing a rim protector ....in comes akoy and becomes our best shot blocker. He's become our best interior defender and is a strong finisher at the rim. He hits free throws, he's tough and does all the little things it takes to win. I just love what this kid brings to the table and feel good about the prospects of next year when he and Jessie anchor our frontline. Glad to see people are starting to buy-in on my boy Akoy. Given the opportunity I knew he could and would prove himself. A player needs game action to prove himself and he is starting to get that chance. Sometimes players run into situations where match-ups are not good but he gets that. Was able to take Akoy out for dinner and spend the afternoon with him in Indy a couple weeks ago for the Butler game. He may not always be on his game and make mistakes but you will NEVER see a lack of work ethic. Something I think other members on this team need to realize. At some point in time I'm sure his offensive production will surge but he also understands that the team doesn't need that from him.

Gotta show up with the same intensity. This isn't previous years Depaul who will just roll over. Need to play a full 40 minute game and take it to them. This. 2 wins against top 20 teams (I know, I know. Creighton isn't really top 20 without Watson) could lend itself to overlooking Depaul. But hopefully our still-lowly spot in the standings will help avoid that. I suspect the staff has already started hammering that in.

Thx for your kind words about Akoy. My family and I have known him for sometime now. He's pretty much like another son in our family.
NICE TO KNOW HE SEEMS FROM WHAT IVE SEEN A VERY SOLID AND NICE YOUNG MAN proud to have him as a hoya and he can be MEAN in a very nice but important way one of my favorites and dont know him that well but GO AKOY Holds himself to high standards, has set some lofty goals which I have no doubt he will achieve. He will also "kill you" with his politeness, courtesy and respectfulness.

The eligibility question is an interesting one. But it's not just a question of the NCAA in this case. It will also depend on Akoy's plans for his future. For now, I'm glad to see him looking healthier the more he plays. I'm still astounded by his conditioning having been forced onto the shelf for so long. For a guy that wasn't able to go full speed for much of the last couple of years, he must've found other ways to get in his cardio because he's logged solid minutes and hasn't looked completely gassed. He must have been working his butt off and it's paying dividends for him and his team. For a team that has guys that some have wondered about their level of want to, Akoy isn't one that would ever be mentioned in that conversation. Everyone wants a team loaded with guys with that quality and it's a quality that is really difficult to instill from a coach's standpoint. Your best bet is to have a few guys like that that bust it every play and it rubs off on the others that have less of it because they're looking lackadaisical in comparison. I think we're already seeing a bit of that and I don't think it's a coincidence that Isaac was sitting more before his injury.

To Platinum Hoya. I'm not sure what you are referring to when saying "often injured and not the quickest of healers". In the 7+ years I have known Akoy, the ONLY other injury he has, was the sports hernia at Louisville and "healing" time went as expected.

Just a little update. Surgery went well, not as bad as they feared. ACL only(bad enuff). He wants to play in March but has pretty much been told NO!!!! He conveyed to me in our conversation that he was in was inline to be a starter before this happened. Right now I'd say they could have used him.

I don't know how many of you have seen Akoy play, but honestly he could actually give a team some minutes at the 3 position(jimho). Definitely not his forte but if needed he could fill that role here and there. Obviously the 4-5 will be his bread and butter. Akoy is a great teammate, probably one of his better attributes. Boy, I was really looking forward to coming from Nebraska and watching some Hoya Hoops and our boy Akoy (Akoy and my family have in a round about way adapted one another). Was always a John Thompson, Ewing and Mourning fan. Loved watching the Big East clashes between those guys and Syracuse.

That is a killer IMO. Don't see a lot of other blue-collar options with his athleticism and size on this roster. Mourning is exponentially slower. Just can't see Hayes or Mourning grabbing meaningful minutes vs. serious teams. We just cannot catch a break. Maybe Johnson becomes our glue guy now? I do not see how Mourning could be exponentially slower than anyone. That exponent is a very small number in any case then. What position is this glue guy anyway? I can't tell if you mean a swingman or a big man or just someone that does dirty work... there's a different answer for each. I feel bad for Agau, just personally, as this many injuries back to back just has to be so discouraging and depressing. But as for the team, the places where we are thinnest are the five and the one. We didn't need minutes at the four, or three, or really even the two, and Agau isn't helping PG depth. So we're talking about the 5. I was hoping Agau could give up minutes there, but Govan + Derrickson + Hayes isn't chopped liver. Maybe Mourning can chip in, though I'm concerned about size, not speed. I cannot see anyway this is a killer. It's a bummer for Agau, and it certainly hurts the team's depth, but it's not a killer.
