I saw Epps only a couple of times and he looked like a solid player. But I did not see a guy running the show and dishing the ball, much. Hopefully he can turn into more of a distributor, but he may very well be a combo guard, in reality. Glad to have him on the team, for sure, but just providing my two cents, fwiw.

Looks like a real good get. Let’s hope he sticks with us through signing day.

I do not know anything about most of these potential transfers beyond their stats, playing time, etc. Think its obvious at this point we are just looking to fill out the 13 man roster and hope someone turns out to be a pleasant surprise. Will be very interesting seeing this group. My WAY too early belief ( admittedly) is its one of the least talented teams we've had in a long time. HOWEVER...I have no doubts it will perform better than Ewing's more talented teams. Think I'd personally rather see some kids overachieving than under achieving.

I think he should play 18 minutes a game, or so. He is skilled offensively, in my opinion.

Kaiden Rice comp I get but it is super lazy. Rice would shoot some ridiculous shots. Massoud is more controlled in what I've seen. You're not the first person to call me "super lazy"!

From simply looking at stats and a few highlights, my impression is that he is similar in game to Kaiden Rice. Capable of getting super hot from three on occasion, but now much in terms of anything else on the court. FWIW...a three point specialist who you ride when he's hot, and sit when he is not, is needed on this team, so I am NOT complaining. But for those who know....does he bring more than what I have stated?

Never seen the guy, but sounds a bit like Kaiden Rice. who I guess we could actually use at this point.

DSR isn’t a great comp. As you noted, Epps is a better athlete, defender . DSR, at least from what we saw last year, a much more skilled offensive player. Epps was a low pct shooter and not great assists to TO. Of course he can always improve on that.

If Mike Jones were coming here plenty of people would be overjoyed about his DMV recruiting prowess. Just saying.

Couple notes. For Dickinson - what about Maryland? Not an options? If Lampkin commits to GU, then I'd imagine Dickinson will go somewhere else. Be interesting if Lampkin chooses Florida. If Cooley could keep Lampkin emotionally and physically engaged, he would be a difference maker in the middle. but so would Dickinson. Lampkin is a big "IF". Obviously don't know the young man, but buddy who follows TCU closely said he was a real problem on the team. Physical talent , but not much on work ethic with limited production. I guess he could give us more depth at center, but he isn't close to Dickinson in terms of impact.

2023 Ryan will be better than 2021 Q. Thoughts? Q is a low bar. Ryan is not ready for prime time yet. Need to recruit a portal center. Considering Ryan played like 30 minutes this past year, how would we know he’s not ready? Because Coach Pat saw him in practice ? Sorry, Coach Pat has zero credibility w me. Hopefully, with a real Coach, we can find out about Ryan. I’m rooting for him.

What’s the expected timeline from Friar fans when they will no longer be pis sy about a potential recruit going to Georgetown? 2027 class? Probably about the time George Mason fans stop being upset about Kim English and Providence stealing all the George Mason players On the other hand, since we are so much better people than those fans, we would have GLADLY let other schools poach our fine coach. Too bad noone did.

I am kind of looking at this two ways...half glass full and empty. From the empty side, at my senile age, I am pretty certain I will not again experience the joy of attending an Elite 8 game with my Hoyas in it (have gone three times and highly recommend it)
On the half full side, its been at least 8 years since I even watched Selection Sunday..( save three yrs ago)..hopefully that will return as Must SEE TV for us again.
I am ready to stop complaining ( for the next several months, anyway) and support our new coach.

It seems that it would be wise for Pitino to wait on Cooley right now. If Cooley bolts then he has another suitor in PC. If Cooley stays perhaps there's a last gasp effort to get us involved to drive up his price with SJ. Also, then Shrewsberry has us he can play off ND if Cooley stays. Ed seems to be holding all the cards right now and his move (or non-move) will be the first domino to fall... Amazing to think Cooley is in such a position. And based on his record , his ceiling is lower than JTIii’s who no one seems to want.

With Cooley, Georgetown I s in the game again. Will we a perennial top 20 program?….likely not. Are we going to be a top 40 program with a shot to make the tourney most year? ….I think that’s feasible with Cooley. Given our 2-38 record in the BE the last two years….I’d happily take Cooley. With those complaining about what we pay him…..I don’t have a problem with that. In my mind, it’s an indication that the school is committed to basketball and rebuilding the program. If , under Cooley, it’s “feasible” we will be “a perennial Top 40 team with a shot to make the tourney most years” but unlikely we’re a perennial Top 20 program, I am not in favor of this hire. Wanting Gtown to be a Top 20 program most years isn’t asking that much, considering the recruiting base, money spent, conference, etc. Our teams under JT III until the last couple of yrs were perennial Top 20 and good to great tourney seeds. So we know it’s quite possible. I have nothing ag Cooley….seems like a decent guy and decent coach. But if it’s not reasonable to expect a 54 yr old coach to instantly upgrade his ceiling , we deserve better, especially for the financial commitment.

Hopefully Jack will be gone by the time we fire Cooley, and we can again at least dream of playing in the Sweet 16 again. I know being very mediocre is far better than we’ve been, but it’s not all that great a place to be. You actually have some hope, which is eventually crushed in either the NIT or first rd of the NCAA. At least with PE, we knew from game 1 there was no hope.

What legacy? Thompson won over a short period. He self-promoted and made his money with Nike board membership Outside of Ewing years he didn’t win with Mourning and Mutumbo. Iverson years gave him brief relevancy then he gave up on recruiting and handed a downward spiraling program to Escherick Yup, not much of a legacy. GU went to one NCAA tourney in its history, 1943, before JT. He then simply took them to 20 NCAA tourney appearances, and coached several Hall of Famers along the way, making GU a household name in college bball. Was he perfect..nope. Did he slow down a bit ...sure. But, in our desire to remove Ronny ( rightfully so) and move on to a fresh new coach with new ideas, let's not make up stuff either, please.
