10 years ago, we were an Undersized Program....I don't see size and maybe not even speed being the factor anymore (except at RB)! The team is reasonably sized, they seem to have decent speed - but they are just are terrible at execution. They don't play well across the board and I don't know why exactly - do we put in as much practice time as other FCS programs or is our time more limited than say a Harvard of Villanova?

Is there anyway to track how ticket sales are progressing? Would be great to be able to follow the progress or lack thereof...

I'm pretty sure this is the biggest thing to happen at Gtown FB since the move to I-AA in 1993 - Right?
I mean the new 1/2 Field is EXTREMELY interersting but it's like getting 1 NEW shoe ate X-MAS, nice and I will not bite Santa's Hand - but sorta unfulfilling.
This is AWESOME, the blog on ideas to really make this a BIG DEAL and a "HUGE" turnout which to me is >19,999 - was FANTASTIC.
It is really possible that for a single game WE CAN DO THIS, from there maybe we annulaize it and then expand to 2, 3 or more in 5 years....who knows, but if we fail year 1 its a 1 and done...
THIS PROGRAM HAS GOT THE SHORT END OF EVERY STICK FOR 50 YEARS, EVERYTHING IS HALF-ASS - I URGE THE FORMER PLAYERS AT LEAST TO TRAVEL, BRING FAMILY & FRIENDS AND IF ITS THE SHINING MOMENT IN THE PROGRAM"S MODERN HISTORY AND REGARDLESS OF SCORE - AT LEAST WE (ALL OF US) LEFT IT ON THE VIRTUAL FIELD TO PUT 50k IN THE SEATS & WE HAVE A DAY TO REMEMBER FOREVER.
If not, its an empty RFK and a likely ass kicking by Harvard and the thought of playing there each year and maybe getting NOVA on the schedule is really cemented as DOA..... I'm COMITTING NOW, I'M BUYING TICKETS and I WANT TO SAY IT WAS THE START OF SOMEHTING REALLY GREAT FOR GTOWN FB!!!
I plan to fly my family, buy for freinds and people that really dont care a lick - but may come to RFK to see Gtown v Harvard b/c I asked them and bought a $10 ticket.... I'm in for 10 but my personal goal is actually brinbg 20 and tailgate and have fun in what may be a once in a lifetime for Gtown.....
I PRAY IT IS NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm assuming then, that the visitors will have a section somewhere on the stadium side next to Hoya fans. We can't expect the visitors to bring lawn chairs and sit on the opposite side of the field. Some visiting teams travel well, expecting Harvard to have a good crowd. I'm guessing there isn't as much money allotted for the stadium as I once thought. It would be nice to have a smaller brick seating area on the visitor's side. I'm hoping they will make the home locker room as nice as the Thompson Center. Plus having clean, up-to-date restroom facilities and attractive concession areas will add some football ambiance. Not against Saturday afternoon games, that's college football tradition. But does Georgetown play any Saturday night games? Might be nice to have one during the season. It seems based on New Pics of Cooper Field #2, that the single sideline accommodating 2 x Rec Fields in the footprint is a solid and likely long(er) term plan than I had hoped......I suppose I will have to settle at least for a while on the Half-Loaf Option! Half-a-Loaf Stadium & Cooper Field doesn’t sound too bad, right!!!! I'll just repeat if often and maybe I will begin to believe myself.

That would just be awful if after all this waiting and anticipaiton, we ended up with a HALF Stadium........ugh, so depressing to think about!!!
"There has been chatter that if the Yates rebuild takes place on Shaw Field, soccer will need a home and the grass area could serve to host a regulation soccer field that the current footprint cannot."
A couple of obvious observations about that horrible concept!
1) That would mean that the "Grass Area" would actually need to be an extension of the Field Turf, no actually grass. 2) Someone would need to inform Mr Shaw who just recently donated millions that his soccer field in his name is being eliminated, share with the Cooper family... 3) Just bears repeating....what an enormus travisty it would be to see what could be a beautiful small stadium in the middle of campus to a half done MSF!

Wow - awesome news and the design really looks great, obviously I would have liked something a bit larger....but effectively 5k on the home side and making a usable North End is in my opinion a good victory! Just having a respectable home for our guys with locker rooms, bathrooms/concessions for fans and a non-temporary press box is a HUGE Win in and of itself!!!!
Does anyone know if the decision to keep the Visitor side a flat grass space is just a temporary thing until some Phase 2 timneline when they will add a Visitor section that hopefully somewhat mimics the Home side in look and size?

Davidson is a quite honestly a better win than a Campbell win regardless of who is actually better, its a battle of the worst of the worst in the PFL, but at least some poor saps that really follow mediordce BB at least of heard of Davidson....(side bar are they better than GU over the pst 10 years???) WTF, If a team like Austin Peay plays Univ of Wisconsin - can we maybe aspire just a bit higher than a never ever been heard of college .... like maybe try to schedule / compete with a Editedty I-A like a Con USA team or a CAA team or another Ivy team as opposed to playing somebody nobody in the world has heard of let alone gives the smallest $hitt about; for real Georgetown University vs Campbell College - lets just schedule Galudette to ensure the win cause its a lot cheeper travel and brings the exact same win/lose embarassment!!!!! That is honestly a un-heard of school / team, are they FCS? $hit, it just gets worse and worse conmpaired to our Conference Peers...this is a slap in the face! We have conference teams moving up to play Army, Navy, BC, Etc and we are moving DOWN!!!!!! This is a joke..... love it we lost the only small brand somewhat name team purely b/c of BB in Davidson to a school I'm almost certain almost 0% of the Gtown student body or the rest of the US student body have ever heard of in a Cambell College!!!! How many GU applicants maybe considered Campbell as a back up - my guess is 0%!!!!! This is a recruiting and reputation killer - thanks FB Leadership, its as always 0 steps forward and a bunch backward, I'm beginning to think we just like moving backwards in every aspect of the sport on the field and off! Ok, back to the Stadium - hows that coming cause we now are playing the St Pete's of the I-AA to fill a win - so inspiring - cant wait to give to the $50k Challenge and get our sss kicked by Crew....wonder why / how that happens? ??

Obviously we have a lot of issues on Offense - but the line seems to have decent size, so maybe a RB would be key....we have never been able to run the ball in the Patriot league!!!!

Since the season is over, doesn't seem that there is much more to focus on than the potential start of the Development of Cooper Field! That said, I'm curious if anyone has seen this article where the MSF actually was ranked #21 best place to watch a game in the FCS? ?? www.scout.com/stadium-journey/story/1681336-2015-fcs-college-football-stadium-rankings“While the Hoyas play in a stadium that is smaller than a lot of high school programs, the energy from the home team fans and the visual beauty of the surrounding campus make you soon forget you are in the smallest stadium in Division I football with a capacity of only 2,500. During the game, you will hear the chant "Hoya, Saxa" multiple times and it is normally led by the cheerleaders. Translated from Latin, it literally means "What rocks?". While there are many thoughts on how and why this originated, just know that it is the rallying cry for the university. From a visual aspect, the setting for this stadium is hard to beat. Located in the center of campus, it is surrounded by the buildings that make up Georgetown University and creates a cozy atmosphere.” Personally, I think that is insane....but I will agree that we have an awesome location in the heart of campus that is unique and if done right a small stadium in the 5k - 9k range could really be amazing. In my opinion it's going to be the architecture...if we had something like U of Albany did or EVEN BETTER - what they did at Stony Brook which gives a BiG Time Stadium feel to an actually pretty small place - we could actually go from possibly The Worst Stadium to one of the Best in the FCS even at a Sub 10k size! Man, I'd love to see the drawings of what is being imagined - anyone think that we will get something along the lines of these examples or are we just gonna get a HS stadium with a little bit more of a permanent feel than the current state with No locker rooms / bathrooms or concessions?

I'm surprised that Parents of Players didn't STRONGLY request an update on the plan, progress & timeline at the recent Awards Dinner?

I can only hope that the Cooper family goes balistic if their intent and $$$ are jerked around!

No more binding than what they sign today, just saying that it's been a practice for 20+ years as far as I know!

Back in the day, even Glacken required a signature of commitment from all of the locked in recruits b/c he had a limited number of slots (20-25 per year) that were reserved through admissions for FB to allow entry at a much much lesser academic standard than the rest of the average student body. If he earmarked you for one of these admission slots, he wanted a commitment from you in writing that you would be attending.

For this to be coming from the Coach at the Top Ivy - I feel more confident that Gtown could survive as an Independent psudo Ivy filling the schedule with a number of long term home and away series (like signed with Columbia) across the majority of the Ivy teams - especially if the rumor of a new (Non-Embarassing) stadium comes true! That is if we are ever forced out of the Patirot by either vote or just inability to compete at the scholarship level.
Harvard coach Tim Murphy was asked this week why the Crimson, who can schedule any team in the East, would play Georgetown, given the Hoyas' lack of football reputation. "They've been an opponent for a couple of years now and people ask me, 'Why Georgetown?' It makes sense to us. It's a great recruiting area. It has a great alumni base. Obviously, a very strong athletic program. Obviously, a very strong academic institution. So, for all those reasons. It makes it a no-brainer for us."
Thoughts?
