Re the signing of Al Dutch, I was tempted to suggest Merlin Wilson who was the top-ranked player in DC in '72 and who still holds rebounding records. In retrospect, however, I agree, Al Dutch had more national notoriety.

I am headed for Kiawah Island and Charleston (one of my favorite cities) on Saturday. Power still not completely restored on Kiawah, but I have the impression it was not as bad as it might have been. Glad you are largely ok Ed and prayers for Haiti.

I will weigh in on Points 2 and 5.
2. More could be done to cultivate out of town fans. Two things come to mind. One, coordinate buses to weekend home games with local alumni chapters e.g. Philadelphia and S. Jersey. Two, work with some hotels to devise "a Weekend in DC" events which would include a Georgetown home game. Relative to the BET could we work something out with Amtrak or NY hotels?
5. I have driven from Philadelphia to Washington for a game at least once a year. I often combine business with a game. I have to be in Baltimore on business on November 15th and will try to coordinate that with the Maryland game that night.

My freshman year was the 3-23 team. I always thought the loss at home to Division II Assumption College was special
I think this team is young, confused and tired. I've always thought that freshman players seem to hit the wall in February. As for the sophomores, who knows?
How many games has this team been truly out of? Monmouth, Xavier (at home) and Seton Hall are who I come up with. Perhaps you could add two more or so.
Time for this season to end. This team's deficiencies (fouling, turnovers) are so apparent that I choose to believe an off-season of work can improve performance.
As to our last regular season game I remember 2009 when NIT-bound Georgetown beat Final Four Villanova in Philadelphia.

Out in Snowmass and am staying in this morning (game time 10 am MT). Am I crazy? I guess I'm still a fan. Perhaps my way of saying thanks to seniors.

Re Providence fans and their hostility- Providence just prior to the dawn of the Big East was the top Catholic school team in the East (think Marvin Barnes, Ernie D). Dave Gavitt was the father of the big East. I think there was a great deal of resentment at how Georgetown, St John's and even Villanova surged past them.

Re Ike and his cuts to the hoop tonight, i also noticed he seemed to make three great cuts and get some good separation in the paint. Hope they pick it up on film and look to get him him the ball.

Ike has made some great cuts, but has not been rewarded with the ball back.

This team might win five of the next six games. On the other hand, it could lose four of them. I wanna see the team that played Xavier.

My two oldest sons and i made our annual pilgrimage from Philly to Kenner for the Sunday games. We came early in the season for us. Weird vibe- a lot of Hoya no shows- no Derrickson, no Peak and no DSR (though he did come into the gym after his game). White and Hayes were hurt.
We liked Govan (will be interesting to see how quickly he gets his Big East legs) and Kaleb Johnson is quite a slasher. Copeland started out well, his threes were falling but his team had a lonely five players and they were out of gas early. Agau was very physical and was a Kenner match-up problem. will be interesting to see how he fits in this Fall.
The best game of the day was #4- Tombs vs Premier Athletics- both teams were fully stocked with 10-12 players and the play was intense and physical. Carter of Maryland and Whittington appeared to be going at each other a lot.
The returning car poll- best Georgetown player was Copeland. Best player of the day (through 4, we didn't stay for game 5) was Greg Whittington. oh, what might have been.

I believe Stokes was part of Thompson's first class. Merlin Wilson. Greg Brooks and Jon Smith played for Thompson at St. Anthony's. Mike Stokes was from St John's. Billy Lynn was from Springarn (sp?)a public high school in DC.

I was at the game. My sophomore year. There were a number of Chilean students there and I remember their distinctive chant.
Some nice takes to the basket by Jon Smith. Looked like some significant minutes by Magee holdovers Tim Lambour, Mark Gallagher and Vince Fletcher.
Was interesting to note the number of jump balls. No alternate possession rule then for tie-ups
Great footage. Thanks so much for sharing.

Why are people skeptical? the Sanchez-Tebo combo worked very well for the Jets.

I arrive at work, I search out coffee, and I check this Board. Thank you for making following the team I love easier and enjoyable for many years.
